I just applied for an account with HostCharge. I didn't re-read the pricing from when I looked it over the other day. Just now I noticed that for their ATM debit card it costs:

One time card issuance fee (5 year validity) USD 49.00
Withdrawal from HostCharge balance to ATM card USD 01.50
Monthly charge USD 05.00

Wow - that's expensive. I am sure it was much, much less than this when I looked over the prices last week. I could be wrong, but I swear it was a heck of a lot cheaper. (Like less than $10 to set-up and just the withdraw charge).


I was attracted to Hostcharge because of multi-currency and the ATM debit card (I am in AU).

get a merchant via NAB and use eway.com.au

then you can use your NAB eft card!

I think you're right....HostCharge is supposedly releasing new services which means price increases....I read somewhere (can't remember) that the virtual terminal will no longer be offerred with the free account...

as for multi-currency, just charge your clients the international equiv of what the amount would be.

hostcharge is good for tax evasion tho :D

I've been talking with Asher and I dont know if what he told me was supposed to be out or not yet but I'll just say that he told me about some pretty amazing changes going on...

I too thought the debit card used to have a smaller price (like $7 something) but then again, I could be wrong:confused:

It really took me a lot of e-mails to understand in complete the guys at hostcharge before sign up. Things like setup, fees and requirements.

Remember, some people like me are new to web hosting business like many others, so some things must be explained with examples.

To get a merchant acct with NAB you have to have quite a bit of transactions and a past relationship with them ... or have they changed something recently?:confused:

I got mind within 2 weeks of registering a business, 2.25% rate, approved in 4 days ;)

Sorry about that, we had to switch rates in accordance with some issues we were having with the bank which we will be working with on the ATM cards.

The target demographic for the ATM cards was always thought to be international users only, i didnt think they would get such a good response from within the USA.
But if you are outside the USA, in the not so long run, ATM cards are likely still the way to go, you save over 11$ every wire (twice a month), plus the card lasts for 5years and acts as a US bank account, which can be frightfully expensive to open if you are not a US Resident.

There will be a few changes in hostcharge in the next few days, the final release of the mcc is also coming out tomorrow, and has alot of great features, hostcharge will continue to improve its product & service.

personally, i think hostcharge offers a great deal. Although if you have the $$ front of getting your very own merchant account, roll with it! But if you're just starting out, hostcharge is the way to go. granted, i havent had an account with them, but the proposal they have on their pages is an excellent start for new merchants.

Host Charge has been great for me. I like both their services and their staff. It's also great to always have new features being added. It would be easy to make everything work and leave it be, but I appreciate the extra time and effort they have taken to go above and beyond.

I believe the launch of the new MCC has been delayed until Sept 5th.

Well, I am now signed up. I will report back on how everythign goes. Dixiesys I saw your posts in the hostcharge forum. Have you decided to sign up with them?

I signed up to use them for a side project me and another guy are working on, if that works out I'll likely get an account for Dixiesys, they're a bit cheaper than 2checkout per transaction for me, and every bit helps, plus I love the fact I can have much more control over the sales and modify things like the recurring amounts/etc.
