look, i have registered a www.justkool.com in april this year. and it will last for 1 year. and this company called www.purehostings.net has sent several reminder to me telling me that i have exceeded my space. But, through backing up of vbulletin database, it was only 139mb, and the whole ftp directory is only 20mb which adds up to about 160mb.. which i have 200mb limit.. and now they are saying it could be due to the error logs of vbulletin which i asked them to clean earlier on when they complained that i have exceeded space. They NEVER told me how much space i have exceeded at all before. Now, that they are saying the same thing that my error log has made up the big junk of space. Now, they have shut down my account and ask me whether i would like to increase my space (which i i have to pay for overspace charge + activation fee) if not they would terminate my account in 3 days. How unfair? i don't even know how much i have exceeded, if i were to know i would just have deleted the logs rite away!

I would ask them to delete the log files or else you'll move to another host, I doubt they'll want to throw away good business!

i found out this policy from their web which i wasn't brought attention to before :

Customer understands that Provider reserves the right to terminate any account for any reason or for no reason and at any time. Abusive actions from the Customer will result in immediate termination without warning. Customer understands and agrees that no prepaid charges are refundable in the event of such termination.

Customer understands that upon termination of webhosting or domain hosting service, provider reserves complete rights and ownership to a domain name that was registered by Provider at time of initial setup until full contract with the Domain's Registrar is completed (2 years). Domain names registered by the Customer at time of setup are not subject to this policy and can be terminated upon Customer's request.

i think it means my domain will be taken over by them!!

True, I would check the log files too. They do take up tons of space when you get lots of bandwidth and they somehow do not get removed.

Also check your emails, even that 'Catch-All' email account which is usually set up. They may be the first place to get spammed and thus could accumulate to quite a bit of junks which you may want to take the time to remove.

One year of spams in the account and logs may cause those 'hidden' space to swell.

Wise advice. Couldn't of said it any better. :)

You might want to "pay" them for the domain name, since they probably registered under their name and thus making them the registered and official owner of the name.

I am sure for them to hold on to the domain name does not do them much good too. So they would probably allow it after paying some kind of penalty for it.

I wouldn't want to rub salt to wound but it might be a good idea to register the domain name yourself next time so there is no conflict here in regards to domain name ownership.

Did the web hoster say that they would manage your web space and vbulletin logs for you when you signed up?
