View Full Version : looking for a low bandwidth, stable, affordable provider. colo or dedicated

I'm interested in either co-locating one of my servers (medium-tower) or renting a dedicated one, whichever is more affordable. I'd use very little bandwidth as I do hosting for several local clients and use the box for personal use. Looking at less than 128kbps sustained, but would really like to be able to burst in order to download updates, kernels, software, etc. Definately less than 20gb/mo in traffic. If the box is a rented server, I wouldn't really need anything super fast, but would prefer either Slackware or OpenBSD to be installed. I'd like to find a host that's stable, affordable, and does not charge outrageous set up fees. I would not require very much support on my end and would not need any administration software.

If anyone has something like this available or knows where I can find something like this, please let me know in a reply to this thread.
Thanks.

A few places offer such services, but are prohibited from advertising in a non-advertising forum.

I'd look out for resellers though (i've seen a lot around) who aren't Value Added Resellers, just "line their pocket" resellers :D.

i dont think the words "rackspace" and "affordable" mix too well unless you're a very large company, where affordable is defined in 9's (99.999% uptime), and you need that sort of guarantee :).

intelliweb: Might I suggest you re-read the forum rules? You're not permitted to advertise in here.

If the rules allowed advertising, Myles would have done it in his first post ;)
