Hello All -

We are currently looking into what exactly is needed to become Microsoft Gold Certified.

We have several MCSE's on our staff, and we had been told that all we need to do is have them associate their MSCE certifications to our company and we can qualify as a company to become gold certified.

Is this true?

If not, can someone explain what is needed, and how we go about it?

Thanks in advance.

It depends on how many staff with MCPs you have..
Usually you need around 20-30 staff with MCPs do be Gold certified. or if you have two MCSE's you can be a Microsoft Certified Partner..

It actually takes quite allot of work, you have to take business surveys to make sure you think like Microsoft and know their products.

If there is a specific reason you want to be a Gold Partner, ie, talk to them. They are quite accomodating for the right people..

You get ALLOT of stuff as a Gold Partner, its not easy to become one.. It gives you access to about £50k worth of stuff, free MS tech support, universal licensing, etc..

If have an SPLA already for your exchange hosting, you should find it a little easier if you've got allot of licenses/users...

You have to earn partner point ! 120 for gold and 50 for certified.
Every MCP employer give you 2 points
Also you need a proven "Competency" - 10 points for each.
Bring Customer References - up to 20 points
Finally to pay 1600$, yearly.

Oh, almost forgot: you cannot use free software given to you by Microsoft on you production Exchange servers, it's only for your internal use.

You do not need 20 to 30 people to be MCSE certified to be Gold Certified.
You need a couple, you need to pay about $1500 in annual fees but most importantly, you need alot of references and recommendations (working with Microsoft related products) to earn the necessary points.
