View Full Version : Looking for domain reseller plan below than $6.5
Glostar 03-18-2008, 03:53 PM I am looking for domain reseller plan with domain price below than $6.5.
And provider should accept small amount prepayment - less than $200.
and reseller account should controlled with popular billing scripts like ModernBill or others.
Do you know such type domain reseller plan provider?
Techno 03-18-2008, 04:17 PM Registrars must pay Verisign $6.42 for each .com domain plus $0.20 cents to ICANN. So registrars need to charge $6.62 just to cover their Cost Of Goods Sold and then need to markup to cover labour, offices, servers, billing software, other expenses and & profit.
Your best bet may be to get an account from an Enom reseller or planetreseller.info but you won't get near $6.50.

But there are many domain registrar offering registration .com domain with prices: $3, $4, $5, $6. :unhappy:
How they do these?
If I resell domains for example at $7, how I can compete with them?
Techno 03-18-2008, 05:23 PM They offer low introductory prices to build their business and hope that you will renew and bring more domains to them. Name.com for example charges $5.99 the first year and $7.99 the second... so averaged over 2 years they have made a small profit.
I have not seen these promotional sub $6.50 offers passed on to resellers.
You cannot compete with them on domain sales alone. You have to offer additional services to make up the loss, ie web hosting or design services.

If you want to compete on price, don't even start. There are hundreds of registrars and thousands of resellers, so it's already hard to get into business. If you offer good service, you will get customers. If you have a extremely low price you will get customers and loose money but most of the customers you get will move away to an other one who is cheaper as soon as there is one or you increase your price.
and reseller account should controlled with popular billing scripts like ModernBill or others.
You make your choice quite easy. First choose which billing software you want to use, then look at the registrar modules they provide and then compare all those registrar. Done.
Glostar 03-19-2008, 02:50 PM Many people buy domains at $2-5 and next year they make transfer this domain to other cheap domain provider also for $2-5.
Also my competitor in my local area sell domains at $7 , and he attract most potential clients. I cannot detect his domain provider. But I have to find the same cheap domain provider for me. Maybe there is any ...
but Goddady, enom, twocows are not cheap ...
Maybe he is ICANN accredited and gets the domain at registry cost.
Just invest $7, register a domain with your competitor and look at the whois, then you know through whom he resells or if he is accredited.

It is surprise for me.
As I do not like Goddady as they do not say true. They are very aggressive seller and frequently change their price police, they always tray to cheat their clients.
So I do not decide what to do ...
Need other cheap domain reseller plan provider and more reliable :(
You're living in a fantasy land. The cheapest reseller is Reseller Club (Directi) after you've sold about 500 domains. Then you might get a price which you can sell at $7 but you won't be making any money. My suggestions..
1) Don't go for a reseller account. Often you can find cheaper prices for the first year when a registrar is having a promo.
2) Get a sub-reseller account at eNom or Reseller Club. You can get $8.95 prices. Sell the domain for $7 and make up the difference on other services like hosting or design.

I suspect another reason could be due to Google Apps which they offer together with new domain registrations. Google is giving affiliates a referral fee for new Google Apps account signed up, so I guess Name.com is earning a profit from there, and maybe that's how they are able to provide low registration fee.
