Ok someone asked for recommendations on a certain email hosting, i posted saying i dont know any other services that i can recommend because i havnt used any but i posted a plan related to what they ask for and get a warning.
Surely if they ask for help and i give them some i shouldnt get a warning. Im only helping them?
Stupid really. Is their really a need for this rule?

You may not publish or discuss any information regarding your product or services, or future (possible) products or services, or any product or services you are, or have been, associated with. This includes, but not limited to suggesting your own services, or services of partners, clients, employers or friends. The Advertising Forums are for advertising.
If you posted one of your own plans, you broke the above rule that you agreed to when you signed up.

True thats what this thread is about ;)!
Im just saying thats its a pretty silly rule really. This forum is to try and get the best service possible but if your not alowed to post your plans to what people want then its pretty pointless.

If you have any specific questions regarding the infraction you received, please ask through the help desk.
If you're interested in debating the merits of a rule, that's fine. Rules get changes from time to time based on input of all members. But I suggest having that debate before you choose to break the rule, not after!

Rules exist to govern the quality of posts and recommendations in the main forum. If you want to promote your own company, you may do so in the designated Advertising forum.
Many users, including myself, come to WHT because it's one of the very few (and I mean extremely rare) websites out there that still maintain an excellent control over users' posts.

Imagine if every thread were like that, and we didn't have this type of control over what users post. There would be a barrage of self-advertising going on, you'd never win. Instead, let the client choose, instruct him to use the Find a Host button, or point him to the appropriate forum to look for plans.
