Their prices look very good, and they seem to give you a realistic number of domains (as opposed to unlimited.). Anyone know anything about them/have any experience?

First of all, there really isn't anything wrong with unlimited domains. We have discussed this matter before, and unlimited domains is pretty much more domains than you could ever create/use.

Other then that, www.dot5hosting.com looks OKAY. They aren't the cheapest (althought prices may have to do with the support/customer service they offer) and also the amount of domains the offer can limit your abilities as a reseller. You want to be able to oversell a bit, any being limited to something like 10 domains won't allow you to do that. Also, what if someone wants a subdomain :eek: ? Unlimited or at least a lot of domains would be good in case you want to create subdomains like forums.yourdomain.com and members.yourdomain.com (just a few examples). (However, I'm not sure how CPanel treats subdomains in regard to domains. :confused: Do they treat both subdomains and domains the same?)

Good point.. I'll ask them about that. What about MChost or HTTPme?

I think MChost is still a bit expensive...although again, it is all relevant to their support/customer service. As for HTTPme, the owner, Assuie Bob, is an active member at WHT. Prices are good and from what I've heard support is great, but the amount of bandwith they give out isn't a lot.

You might want to try to post at the 'Web Hosting Requests' forum and get a custome quote. :)

Just to clear up about the subdomains these are infact unlimited on all accounts.

hallo i'm new here :) i am also looking for a reseller plan. betwen httpme and mchost or 1&1 (german provider. good but expenesive). after some research, i found httpme to offer more bandwidth on larger plans but their pricing scares me.

biggest plans compare:

httpme: $1.2 per GB
mchost: $1.9 per GB

both are really cheap compared to 1&1 which is around $4-5 per GB. i see httpme has servers at NAC and i find the post where i see where they rent their servers from and the GB bandwidth at NAC costs about $3 per GB how can they offer it so low? :eek: with support? i am a little worried, but not scared away.

for mchost i like their offerings and have just send in my sale questions. we see.

It is called overselling, which isn't so bad unless you oversell A LOT :D .

Price in this case may not be an issue. I don't think HTTPMe.com's prices are too high, but I have some reasons to thinkg so. I believe their first plan has 1 GB/12 GB bandwith (correct me if I'm wrong) and I know that if you 4 or 5 sites that use excessive bandwith, then you'll endup needing to upgrade and possibly even lose money. Of course in many cases, 12 GB of bandwith is fine. Just don't run too many forums. ;)

I can't comment on HTTPMe.com's support or customer service as I have never used their services. However, from what I hear they are really nice people and treat their customers well. :)

BTW, when I say high, I am sort of exaggerating. I really mean that there are possibly cheaper prices out there, just maybe not the support/customer service.

u can go to voxtreme.com or weberz.com also Support is great... good connectivity and bandwidth, prices are nice though u can compare :)

After doing a quick WHOIS on Dot5Hosting.com, one can see their domain name was registered about five months ago, and thats just the domain, I assume it takes about a month from domain purchase point until the site and business is up and operational, maybe more. This is something you might want to take into consideration when choosing a host. If stability is important, how accurate can a 4 month record be?

Personally I have nothing against or in favor of dot5hosting, but you should go ahead and check out some of the bigger resellers such as voxtreme, MCHost, SplashHost, VenturesOnline, those companies who have been in business for over a year and have proved reliable.

Good luck though, and let us know who you end up going with.

There may be no accurate records on a 4 month old (presumably) host, however they will never have any records if they everyone runs away from them because they are new.

New hosts = competiting big time in the web hosting industry = most likely good support and customer service (if they can handle their customer base) and good prices.

Just my mathematical formula to find out why a new host might be a good choice. ;)

I can personally assure you that support is our biggest concern at Dot5hosting.
And yes being able to handle our customer base is definitely possible with our support infrastructure. In fact, we even have enough time to answer inquiries here on WHT!
We offer support over AIM, MSN, ICQ, Email, and Trouble Tickets.
We will soon be upgrading our helpdesk system, and I am currently working on an extensive knowledge base, and FAQ.
In fact, I hope that I can make our knowledge base so extensive that many visitors other than just our customers can find Ensim related answers since there just are not enough out there already. Of course I hope that other hosting companies do not find this as an open invitation to plagiarize our KB.

Dot5Hosting is good...I havem't resold for them but I have a website with them and they've been pretty good.

Be aware though that they backup files for a month which ends up using about 60megs of space which you are alotted so it's a little deceiving...make sure you straighten things out before you customize a package with only 20 megs space...cuz you'll run out in 3 days due to their backups.

Just to clarify....
The web logs are setup to be rotated weekly, but 4 weeks worth
are kept at a time. Just in case you need them.
However, if you have no intention to use them, and want to
conserve space we will gladly edit the logging for your site so that
only one week worth is saved, or whatever you wish.
So if you want only a 20mb site, and want no logs at all, just ask
us to disable logs altogether.

Yes I should have mentioned that dot5 was helpful with this issue in that they changed the logs for me and even increase my disk space free of charge!
