Have you contacted register.com yet? Who was the original registrar? Anything happened before this "stealing"? Peter Dope_010 08-17-2002, 10:30 AM I havent contacted them yet because ive only just got back off a holiday and saw it, I bought the domain off them in the first place and i dont know of anything that happened b4 this. ckpeter 08-17-2002, 10:32 AM Since you registered the domain through them first, have you tried logging into the account and just change all the contact info to yourself? Could be that they (somehow) lost your contact info, so they could only use their own to display. Peter Dope_010 08-17-2002, 10:36 AM Nope, My password doesnt work, when i try a retrieve pass its there email registered so it just goes to them >:| ckpeter 08-17-2002, 10:38 AM How long has it been since you contacted technical support? (You did contact support before posting on a public forum, right?) Peter Dope_010 08-17-2002, 10:40 AM Yes, its been 2hours ckpeter 08-17-2002, 10:41 AM 2 hours only? Don't you think you should at least wait 24 hours before posting something like "What on earth are they doing!?" and "Stolen"? Net users demand instant gratification. ckpeter 08-17-2002, 01:06 PM Ok, ok...no need to ridicule the thread starter. Peter DotComster 08-17-2002, 01:19 PM I said it before (and got flamed) register.com picks up their client's expired domans the only other registrar to do this is Netsol/VeriSin Sorry to say this - but your domains expired on Mon, Jun 03, 2002 - Register.com thought it was nice and picked it up. They recive many emails from webmasters requesting their domains back and I have yet to see them return a single one. Good luck with their support, I hope they prove me wrong. intellec 08-17-2002, 10:57 PM Originally posted by Dope_010 Register.com have stolen my domain names, for example, SiteBond.com and Deadliest.info , all the info has been set to register.com ! You lost them for good. Did you pay your renewal prior to the expiration dates. Also there is a new Icann.org rule...a domain owner has within 60 days of the end of an expiration period to reclaim their domain. When did you pick sitebond.com up? And did you get notification on deadliest.info rights to another owner? Domain Name: SITEBOND.COM Created on..............: Mon, Jun 03, 2002 Expires on..............: Tue, Jun 03, 2003 Record last updated on..: Tue, Aug 06, 2002 Domain Name:DEADLIEST.INFO Created On:16-May-2002 18:26:27 UTC Last Updated On:06-Aug-2002 14:55:58 UTC Expiration Date:16-May-2004 18:26:27 UTC Bashar 08-18-2002, 01:52 AM register.com changes the information to their contact information when a chargeback comes from the credit used on that domain, so just make sure you did not complain to your bank saying i did not buy from register.com or maybe used fake CC to buy these domains? Acroplex 08-18-2002, 02:23 AM Hmmm very interesting. The Deadliest.info shows some weird Registrant info, e.g. city is Rotterdam (The Netherlands) but the country is Nigeria (NG) - it seems the records were phony. Hello? Where did you come up with this one? There has been a proposal adopted by the ICANN board for a domain redemption grace period that will allow a domain owner 30 days to renew their domain after it expires. It is not yet in effect, and will take many months of negotiations with the various registries before it goes into effect. This redemption grace period is also allowed to be a "fee recovery" process, so it's likely it will not be free. Who will determine what fees are reasonable for a prior owner to recovery an expired domain? Is this a $30 fee? A $20 fee? A $10 fee? It has not yet been determinedd now this will work - however, it is better than the current no-policy that exists today, where the registrar pays $6 to the registry when your domain expires, and they then have 45 days to decide to keep it or drop it and get their money back. Some simply choose to keep the domain - since they paid the renewal already... If you have links to more recent information than the ICANN board meeting in June on this one, I'd be interested in seeing them. -t Pilgrim 08-18-2002, 11:09 AM Originally posted by timechange Hmmm very interesting. NG is right above NL on the selection list. Probably Just clicked the wrong one archie2 08-20-2002, 12:47 AM that wouldn't be too bad of a change, I know many people who knew they lost their domain name after the site went down LOL. then they went to renew it. |
