I was realy upset with myacen because of all this price changing stuff and being moved onto a different server under a different name to myacen , I mean it was my mate that told me about it , myacen never contacted me once about it and this made me mad.

Im paying for it so i should know whats going on , i then went to the forums and noticed it was all over there but , not everyone of your clients has time to post on the forums,

This just made me mad , and because of this i will be moving away from myacen,

Hey there,

Their forum is pack with loads of information, I think staff must of forgot to inform people by email or it’s not time just yet.

I think you should re-think about this, even as a competitor to myacen soon in a month or so, I still have a hosting account with them and they been the best host I've been with. I think you know that for yourself.

Hope you consider staying.

Hello,

You must have misunderstood the annoucement, we would have contacted you if you were being moved or your price is being change.

Your NOT being move or is your price going up.

We're increasing the price to new users and anyone who upgrades/downgrades their account only.

Your price will stay the same and the features when you ordered your account.

Yes that's exactly Right. No clients were contacted as price rises are not going to effect exisiting clients. Their will be no server moves, and you will not be moved to our new subsidiary.

It's funny - raise your prices for your plans and folks expect to stay at their old price/plan level. If you lower your prices for your plans, then folks expect to be charged less.

Am I missing something here?? :o

We usually raise our prices without notice at 3 AM EST and immediately suspend all accounts to get everyones attention. Anyone who adjusts their payment gets immediate re-activation. But that's just us. :D

All complainers are simply deleted.

Maybe immediately levy a late charge as soon as the prices are raised. :D

I can see it now...
Dear Sir,
As you don't know, at 3:00 AM EST our prices were raised retroactive to the beginning of the month. Your current monthly payment is therefore late. We have adjusted our TOS and have levied a $50.00 late charge to be paid in full before we can unsuspend your account. All complainers will be deleted.

Thank You.

It's a lose-lose situation, really. We raised our prices some times ago, and sent out notices to existing customers that they would not be affected. Some immediately wrote in threatening to cancel their accounts because we were raising their pricing. Go figure.

And what's the deal with this "price for life" thing?? Do folks really expect that the price they signed up for will never change in the next 5 to 10 years?? I've never understood that.

We give a price freeze however things can change quickly over a couple of years. If cogent wen't out of business for example, you wouldn't see extremely cheap hosts. Bandwidth would cost more, forcing prices to increase.

I wish everything came with a price for life guarantee. Like gasoline for instance.

You also have to consider inflation.

Well, two things I hate:

1) Host's to post downtime notices ONLY to a forum and DO NOT notify their customers via email.

2) Hosts who try to utilize stupid web-based ticketing systems. I wish more web hosts did like Tera-Byte and used Request Tracker (http://queue.tera-byte.com) ... it works well. I think in many ways it helps to make things more efficient.

Request Tracker would work well if customers actually emailed to the specified email address that makes the script work. Unfortunately only about half would IMO.

What we do is guarantee the help desk method and watch other avenues and try our best.

The problem with email support is it takes us longer to figure out who the person is than it does to fix the problem which is why the help desk asks for domain name and username.

All too often we get emails from customers saying something like - "Hi this is Joe, my domain script wont work, please advise."

We then look at his email address, hope it's the one we have on file, run a search for it through our 8000 email .pst file, try and figure out which domain he's talking about, ping it to see what server it's on, all this takes 5-10 minutes only to find out a 10 second chmod fixes the problem.

I don't have a problem with email support, but it's much easier and quicker to be solved if certain info was given right off. The help desk forces submission of the important info (domain & username).

FYI. I don't sign on with any hosts that does not offer a "price freeze.' My currents hosts both offer and honor this.

This protects me from hosts who are "low balling" to get new clients only to raise hosting fees a few months down the road.

I think that might be exaggerating a bit Bob. Most clients would have out grown their plan and thus have had to move to a higher, more costly plan, or find another host or dedicated server.

It's cheaper to keep a customer than to find a new one. ;)
