View Full Version : I'm not a rocket scientist, but I'm pretty sure this is bad.

My current host stats:

Server Load 597.22 (8 cpus)
Memory Used 97.5 %
Swap Used 49.98 %

I'm scared.

I'd say you should be. If the server loads are that high with that much memory and swap used, its time for them to get an additional server.

Server Load 597.22 (8 cpus)

And the cpu goes fried...

The whole issue (server load included) can be the result of a memory shortage. Either the server has little RAM (but it looks like an otherwise beefy configuration, so I rather doubt it), or something suddenly started to use huge amounts of it.

Did you contact your provider? Is the issue still ongoing?

It could be a one time spike but if its not and they don't do anything about it when you bring it to their attention ( not that you should have too. )

RUN !!!

That's the first time I've seen it over 500, it usually stays at 50.

The server load, in reality, is 75% (597 in WHM is the total between all CPUs). Still high, but not overly dangerous short-term.

I know that server =) And had to track a abusive spammer! Its settled Now! Spammer is gone server is Back to Excellent.
Avg Load: 0.96, 0.17, 0.95
Memory: 0.91GB / 4GB

Thank god for Dual Quad Cores..

Thank you

Avg Load: 0.96, 0.17, 0.95Looks good. :)

Afaik, it is not 597% for 8 cores, it is 597 simultaneous processes on the que for 8 cores, which is dangerously high. Correct me if I'm wrong.

What I think he is trying to say is WHM totals up the load for all cores so, theoretically a 8 core system's load is load/8 (597/8 = 74.625). He probably just mistakenly added a % sign.

Yes our servers don't average 50 they average .50 .70

I know, 75 load is VERY high but no where near 500+ I have yet to ever see a single core system hit 500+ (I'm not sure you could check the load at that point let alone do anything).

Even with that issue HTTP was active and websites loading,, A little slow.. But the beast handled it nicely and never failed. We found the spammer locked down the IP addresses. If if were just single core 2.0 or even dual core ,, I think it would have broke.
