Very funny, he is sending private mails where he should post it in one of the advertising forums - is it that difficult to follow forum rules???

I made a post under "swampgas" asking them why they would do something this stupid (i received the spam as well). He/she responded.

I do not know what are you talking about? We have several refferals to whom we pay money to refer more members. Incase somebody has spammed you by using our name WHN, please tell the name of the person or user name So that i can immediately take appropriate action against him/her.

I am one of the owners of WHN forums. I was shocked to see this being happening. Thanks to the reporting of Jeff "swampgas", i have caught the person behind this stupidity. He is John Nash, one of our refferals, who did this blunder just to earn some extra cash. He used the term "Admin" in his signature to give an image as if it was sent by the Administrator of WHN.

I personally apologize to everyone who has been annoyed by the stupid or i should say criminal act by this person. I will make sure that he pays for it.

We wanted to keep WHN clean for everyone to use and one of our own ppl let us down in front of WHT members.

As for the refferals, yes we have some extra bucks to spare so that we can use them to gain some members. Since we have just started, we needed a boost. Now we have learned that refferal idea is risky, specially after what has happened to you all.

Hope that you will all forgive WHN and help this community grow and be clean from spam.

Why would you need to pay for refferals? Just list on search engines and post where appropriate.

i'm a bit confused, if the person was a getting money from referrals, how were you tracking them? the link in the original post doesn't have a trackable ID, so, how would you know he was the one bringing in the referrals? or, was it just you paid him to guerilla market your forum on other forums?

also, in general, in the post you want to remove, i noticed "wht" state that WHT is not for profit? heh, that confuses me also. since when?

Php can't remove the thread. It's better that it remain anyway, you've received some free exposure and it explains the spam - though some will never believe that your employee did it. Frequenting WHT would be a good way for you to build traffic to your site.

These spammers are banned from here as is their hosting company. This was not the work of a 'referral', spam was sent from the owners of the site. The post above is just pathetic bullfrog. Nothing I hate more than lying spammers.
