Since yesterday was my last day at CommuniTech.net (because I'm moving to Florida), it's now time to find other ways to pay the bills.

I'm extremely efficient in almost all UNIX's, including *BSD and Linux, and mysql/php, and I'm willing to do just about any sort of work.

I've recently been developing my own Hotmail/Yahoo Mail php-based mail program, but I lost interest in that as I realized I didn't need it. Anyways, it can be seen http://intro.gngsta.com/.

We have used this guy and he did a great job.. We had a perl mod that No One could get installed and get it to work. It took Joey about 10 minutes to respond to my First Inquiry from his website and then it took about 10 minutes to get it to work..

I just want to post so people know this guy is for real.. I'm I for real.. well that is yet to be determined. :)

1 hour or just for the 10 minutes?

Actually he just tried to get me to pay part for the small job he did but I agreed to the minimum 1 hour. He said if anything comes up minor like that we would work something out..

I think he would have been cool with less but I agreed to it so I paid him the $75 :D

Heck I paid someone else nd they could not even get the DBI to install right.

I would talk to Joey about it.. He is pretty cool but I can't answer for him..

Thanks! If only the players didn't plan on striking, I'd almost say I have a chance to make it. I give baseball maybe 1 or 2 more seasons, and it's over. It'll be just another women's soccer.

$75 to install a module? That may sound like too much money; but it really isn't. I've installed many perl mods myself. Most are easy and can be done with cpan.pm; but some are tricky and difficult, and must be installed manually, etc. Math:Pari is one of them.

Just curious. What module did he install that the other person had trouble with?

I think it was just a simple DBI mod but two other people installed it and it would not work afterwards.. I went back and read the email Joey sent to me afterwards and he said "that did not take very long so just pay me whatever you think is fair" Like I said before we agreed to the $75/min 1 hour before he did the job so that is what I sent and he replied to get with him the next time and we can work something out.

Most people would have taken the money and run and maybe even said how hard it was and maybe even said it took longer then an hour that is why I did not mind paying.. I was ready to pay $75 so that is what I paid.. BTW he did not make me pay until after he did the work which also was proof to me that he was an honest guy, well to me at least..

I don't understand that. What does not charging until after it's done have to do with being honest? Many of us are honest that want to get paid first, just to make sure the other person is honest too, and doesn't stiff us.

I did not make a statement to start a fight.. :( I have been ripped by plenty of people that want to get paid up front and then you never hear from them again.. I have also had just as many people that wanted the money afterwards and did a fine job. I hired my last programmer because of his honesty. He made almost $2000 this month because he does what he says he is going to do. My point is Joey did a job that I paid him for and he is a good guy in my book.

All I said was this guy is honest, he did what he said and I paid him..

I don't think you're trying to start a fight, and I'm not either. It works both ways though. Many programmers have been ripped off too, and that's why they want to be paid first. Guess that's why we couldn't get together - you sound like you don't trust people any more than I do. :)

I agree I have been ripped on jobs that I have done and I know what it feels like. :) The problem is there are not enough good honest people out there.. You sound like you are an honest guy, why? well because most people get all pushed out of shape for no reason when something like this comea up and you only stated your point which I totally agree and respect... I have only been doing this for about 3 1/2 years but I am not new to the "business" world but all my prior dealing were face to face so it made a huge difference on the trust factor, even though face to face they will still rip you off. :)

I am careful in who I deal with. I can afford to lose a couple hundred dollars on a bad choice. I always make a few small transactions and if everything is cool I will proceed with bigger and better things. I am getting to old to fight over the little stuff

You never know we just might wind up working together on something..

Thanks for saying that. Because of your input, I've decided that perhaps partial payments and doing things piece-meal are probably the best way for both parties.

Anyhow, I'm glad you found Joey. He sounds like a swell guy, and I'm glad he was able to solve your problem.

I don't understand the problems with the DBI installation, though. That module should easily install with 5-10 minutes just as Joey did. Of course, there is always the possibility that you will have to install more modules in order to get the new module to work (module dependencies). Also, as I said some modules are difficult, and have to be loaded manually, compiled, configured, etc; and that can take much longer than 10 minutes.

Enough rambling. Glad you found a trustworthy person like Joey to help you out.
