I've never had to hunt for a driver for a single piece of hardware. And, I've only had one machine that wouldn't work out of the box, which was do to a propiertary design.

They only hate Linux because they don't know how to use it :stickout

Linux isn't hard to learn.... I actually learned a lot from a general Unix book. The book was called, "The Unix Operating System", great book, on the shell and such.

Linux is the best :)

For the record, Linux is good for *nix beginners, but any flavor of BSD's better. :)

What they are saying there is totally incorrect these days. Ya, it's still a bit of a pain to install Slackware or something, but Redhat 7.3 is easier to install than windows. All you do is pop the cd in, answer a few questions, and it's all set up. I didn't have to install one device driver. (and KDE 3 ROCKS!!)

If only Adobe would get smart and port Photoshop...I'd be off Windows for good. (don't even bother with the 'GIMP!' replies. Ain't the same.)

Oh ya, lots of people love it, its script kiddies favorite.

Of course becaue it always happens. If I start spouting about how much I like vi some emacs user is going to come post the same kind of garbage. Tell me what you can do with freeBSD that makes it "better".

I use Linux/ FreeBSD/ OpenBSD but I love hearing the bigots sound off.

Why do I like freebsd better. Because it was up for 152 days until I had to move the server. Thats why. My RH linux server, got cracked in a week.

Maybe thats because you don't know how to secure a linux server? I use Linux for firewalls and have had no problems. How did it get cracked?

OpenBSD is better than FreeBSD but, when configured correctly windows 2000 kills them all.

I have run linux servers before, I just dont like them. I installed freevsd, and was reading up on it, left it there, with most stuff turned off except named and ssh and httpd. Next thing ya know, its cracked. I ran linux before, for about 1 year as a server, didnt care for it. Proccess froze and named had a thing for crashing randomly. So I switched to freebsd, had no problems. Thats why. Now mabey I did run it wrong, mabey it was my fault, but none the less, I was able to get freebsd to run correctly, without any problems, so imho, freebsd is better.

Linux is the coolest one...
FreeBSD is fine...
Windows no comments... :)
