I backed up my important data onto a new WD Removal hard drive and onto a cd-rw and then formatted the old hard drive which was running WinXP on NTFS ...

Two days later went i went to retrieve the data from the HDD the system(s) would not detect it :( I have tried absolutely everything to get it to work it just isn’t going to happen ... I have tried the four machines we have in office with no luck :(

XP2200+ = does not even recognise it.
P4 2.4ghz = does not even recognise it.
Dual P3 = does not even recognise it.
P2 = recognises it but after detecting it does not load any further.... crashes

So yes I am buggered, I have lost quite a bit of very important data and I am in need/suggestions on what I can try out....

Is there any good NTFS data recover programs available?
Anyone knows of any WD dealers who may be able to get the data of this HDD or maybe be of any assistance...

I am confused as to what to do its 1AM here and until the morning I really cant see what is possible, anyone any suggestions ?
All info/suggestions is greatly appreciated.

EDIT : I have looked everywhere for that backup cd, I just cant find it ... it cant get much worse :(

shazad, try putting it in a linux box and mounting the drive

better than nothing

Back on topic; I will give that a shot, Thanks, however since it dose not detect it at boot, i really cant see it working :(
