Hey guys,

I recently switched host since my old host was down for 3 days without any notification. Anywho, so I recently bought new hosting space and pointed my nameservers to the new dns. But the thing is, is that now it keeps switching from the new server and back to the old server (the domain). I understand it takes time for domains to propagate but its already been 5 days since I made the dns change and its still doing it. Anyone know why?
Thanks alot,
Ed

Most likely the dns is misconfigured. If you'd like to share the domain we can tell you or you can try dnsreport.com or intodns.com for a quick check.

Ugh. You've got it delegated to ns1 and ns2.instastudios.com, but those nameservers say the NS records are ns9 and ns10.vertivo.com. So you first need to fix the NS records and SOA for vannylisting.com.

Then your instastudios.com nameservers have glue (the .com nameservers provide IP addresses) but no A records for ns1 and ns2 - you need to add those in the zone file for instastudios.com or you'll find the lookups unreliable.

Try the dns-check links - if you can clean up the red stuff there you'll be mostly right. ;)

Hello, thanks for the help. I looked at the 2 dns check links but I'm not really sure how I make the changes you mentioned. For the zone file, is that in WHM? I tried poking around but didn't find anything. thanks alot!

In WHM it's DNS Functions -> Edit DNS zone.

In the records, watch out for the period (dot) at the end of yourdomain.com. It's easy to miss and important not to. ;)
