Awhile back my computer crashed, and I had to re-install XP and restored a backup I had. Problem is, under the user 'Shea' I created, I was playing around with settings and set the my documents folder under 'Shea' so that only I using that account could access that folder. Now obviously I can't bust into that folder, and I have files in there that I need. Anyone have any ideas on how to retrieve everything in that folder?

Try unchecking the "Use the Welcome Screen" in the "User Accounts" section of the control panel.
Then, when you reboot, login as "administrator" with the password you created when you installed.
You should, theoretically have full access to the folder and be able to change the permissions.
Could be worth a shot - I haven't actually done it on XP before but it should work.

Restart in safe mode, and login via your administrator account (they admin account) and change the settings -- and also the shared folder settings as well -- in the control panel.
That should fix it

There isn't an option to restart in safe mode in XP that I see. Windows sucks.

can't you just add the user Shea again?
also...
look in your controlpanel and administration tools (or something, don't have english xp) and safety priciples. Might be there.

I tried adding that user again, it just adds some extension on the name of the user so it isn't really the same.

You can reboot in safe mode in XP..
You have to do it during the reboot process.
Depending on your computer, right after you hit reboot, and its loading your RAM, etc... Hit either, F8 when its loading... or SHIFT. And hold it down. Sometimes you have to reboot and hold down several times before you can catch it just right, and it will give you options.. aka Reboot in Safe mode, Reboot Command Prompt, etc. And go down to Reboot in Safe Mode and hit enter... and it will. And then login via your "Administrator" account.
If you have any problems, let me know, I'll explain more indepth.
