Hi,

I wanted to know if anybody here used Nixt (http://www.nixt.org). It doesn't matter if it's the default install or if it's a completely hacked up version. Just looking at some opensource alternatives to phpmanager, Nixt seemed to be mentioned a couple times in these forums.

thanks :D

p.s. I also heard of gcdb but the sourceforge seems like there hasn't been any updates in quite a while.

I messed around with it a couple days ago. It looks and works like a free script. (Best things in life are free though ;) But I'm having trouble getting it to connect and create an account on the cPanel server. I get the error from WHM that I'm not authorized to create the plan. I haven't had any time since then to determine why I'm getting that error. I think WHM is having problems authenticating myself to do the operation.

Hi,

you are getting that error because the username that you are trying to use to setup the accounts in WHM has reseller permissions set which does not allow you to create that account.

If you own the server, you will have to goto the reseller section and edit the permissions for that username.

Hope this helps :)

Nixt is a great piece of software. The only hack I've used thus far is adding a hostcharge mod (very simple one). I'll probably add more to it when I need it.

The billing module isn't the greatest, however, at this point I don't need it, and when I do I'll probably write my own :).

It's a great little system, and best of all VERY VERY modular.

If you own the server, you will have to goto the reseller section and edit the permissions for that username.

Just for clarification, do you need to have your own server or can Nixt run on a basic reseller account?

I read on the nixt.org site that:
"In order to take advantage of the billing module's autoinvoice scripts, you must have PHP 4.0 or higher (still with mhash/mcrypt) compiled as a cgi binary"

So, nixt's billing modules won't run if PHP is installed as an Apache module (i.e. mod_php)?

at this point I don't need it, and when I do I'll probably write my own
I guess that's the appeal of NIXT, that you can customize it to your liking.:)

I'm going to try out both PHPmanager and Nixt and see what I like. :look:
