I have set up a server and installed plesk 2.5 on it. But, when I go to visit the site (lets say 12.345.678) it comes up server not found. When I go to https://12.345.678:8443 same thing. PSA is running and apache started fine without errors.

I thought I configured everything right, I have done this many times before. But this time I'm confused.

Any help would be appreciated!

Its Redhat 7.2 just to let you know.

Thanks!

Also I can not ping the server, but I can SSH to it.

Are the required ports open? Seems to me like a firewall problem. I think in some configuration pings are blocked by default, and all non standard ports too.

Time to play with iptables :( That can be quite a task (and I can't help you there).

I agree about some type of firewall for the pinging. Im betting the other one is a plesk problem, your best bet here is to check the apache logs, print some of it out, shouldnt be too hard to fix.

Ok Ill look at the iptables and see if it is something there. But I would imagine port 80 would be open by default.

That is from the /usr/local/psa/admin/logs in httpsd_error_log

Would this maybe be solved if the os was reinstalled with no firewall?

Also, what should my hosts file look like? I have always dealt with a domain name so Im not sure how to just do a ip address. Right now it looks like:

# Do not remove the following line, or various programs
# that require network functionality will fail.
127.0.0.1 localhost
64.250.***.*** 64.250.***.***

Would that be right? Maybe this is my problem...

UPDATE:

I got apache working. Everything is fine except for when I install PSA.

I get:

===> Installing MySQL Server
Installing privileges Database...
ERROR!
Check the error reason, fix and try again

Exiting...

Which is a problem with my hosts file. I have set the ip in it, but, I dont know the second part of it.

# Do not remove the following line, or various programs
# that require network functionality will fail.
127.0.0.1 localhost
64.250.***.*** (What do I put here if it is just a ip)?

Thank you. This message is ancient, but was helpful as I encountered the same problem today. Plesk admin seemed to be broken, but appeared to be working in the server processes.

Iptables was on the right track...

Plesk admin runs on port 8443 and that has to be allowed. 80 has to be open too as does 443 if you have users with secure sites, but 8443 is the admin port...so all of these ports have to be open in iptables.

Perhaps this will be helpful to someone else who encounters the same error.

I found this message by searching Google for the error I found in the Plesk httpsd_error_log in /usr/local/psa/admin/logs.

plesk Address already in use: make_sock: could not bind to port 8443

Thankx
