View Full Version : Nocster or Fastservers
So far im thinking nocster because of there 100% managed servers.
The only thing kind of making me shake is there setup fee and cost of ips. ($5 setup for 10ips + $5/month)
FastServers have just manage, like semi i think you would call it.
Cost of ips are good (25cents perip/month)
Now it comes down to yous.
Ive read other threads about nocster/fastservers
I need your opinion of both dedicated providers. (please only replie of you have a server with them)
Last question. Do of any of them use cogent(or whatever its called) bandwidth.

You'll notice my partner was flammed by a BurstNET/Nocster admin...
Do you really want to do business with a company like that?????
clocker1996 08-15-2002, 01:25 AM hehe
i suggest fastservers
because everywhere u look u see nothing but positive things
there wont be as much down time as nocster has at fastservers
reseller 08-15-2002, 01:27 AM Nocster = burst
burst = welll if I were you, I'd be going with fastservers given the alternative
WiredMom 08-15-2002, 02:52 AM i've got a server with fastservers - i love it. the support is great and i havent run into anything that they wont do for me..yet :stickout
Matt Lightner 08-15-2002, 04:12 AM I believe Nocster uses some Cogent bandwidth whereas Fastservers uses Hurricane Electric's network (he.net).
diederik 08-15-2002, 05:05 AM FastServers for sure... :)

Wow... I never saw that thread... , that's very unprofessional of Burst/Nocster
amusive.com 08-15-2002, 10:55 AM Nocster -- my server there rules.
apollo 08-15-2002, 11:48 AM FASTSERVERS!

FASTSERVERS!
SoftWareRevue 08-15-2002, 05:49 PM I have no experience with Fastservers. But, my experience with Nocster is enough to have no problems recommending them.
We've been very pleased.
As long as your server is up, Nocster is the best. If your server ever goes down or is unreachable
:( :bawling:
Its been an hour and I have received no response from Nocster. Looks like they are sleeping. Do they really provide 24/7 support?
Extremely disappointed at this time!!!!
SoftWareRevue 08-15-2002, 09:29 PM Have you telephoned them?

Yeah, I just called them. Someone is suppose to look into this now  Let's see how long its going to take...
I wonder where the support tickets are ending up. :(
2 hours and no progress. :bawling:
4 hours now and still counting. the "top tech guy" is supposed to be working on the server since last one hour to replace network card.
:bawling:
The Prohacker 08-16-2002, 12:15 AM hahahah... Doesn't surprise me...
I found out a few hours ago, that my server was rebooted, and the other 2 admins didn't do it..
So that would leave one other possiblity :D
The Prohacker 08-16-2002, 01:05 AM Hmm... Maybe they should upgrade to chimps from monkeys....
interactive 08-16-2002, 01:07 AM ahh dontcha just love it when stuff breaks? lol
chrisb 08-16-2002, 02:23 AM I cannot understand how anyone could conscientiously recommend Nocster or Burst.net with all the problems I've seen posted here in the last several months ...especially SoftwareRevue, he's seen them too.
I feel sorry for Burst in a way. They had a great idea with Nocster and a tremendous opportunity to set the hosting industry on fire, and they blew it.
Ok fastservers it is then :)
the problem was with the network card :( they replaced it but it did not resolve the issue. eventually they replaced the motherboard. its running fine now.
total downtime around 6 hours. :bawling:
