I'm not big into file sharing but, I just heard of this one today and was wondering if anyone has any experience with it. I've always avoided these things because of spyware, etc. They claim theirs is clean.

Is it any good?

Some people hate it, I quite like it.

It's a matter of personal preference.

But as far as I know it doesn't contain any spyware. I ran "adaware" or whatever it's called after I installed it and it came back clean.

I use it and love it, I can always find what I'm looking for on it (always), always had problems with KaZaA or whatever the fsck it's called and never liked Limewire, it's the best next to what Napster was as far as I'm concerned.

I used it ages ago... back when Napster was still around. I dunno if it's changed recently, but it used to be full of 56k'ers, and the ques for files were always like 100 people long...

Peer 2 Peer networks have been around for ages.

First > Napster, WinMX, BearShare, KaZaA < Last

I suggest KaZaA, especially if you want anything non-music.

I used Napster back in it's day. I've become a bit more sensitive to the work of the artists since I have a boy with a band trying to make some money. HOWEVER, I think the RIAA is a parasite and I don't mind doing to them what they've been doing to the artists for years  .

I'll support the indies but, the RIAA can kiss my A$$.

I'll think I'll give winmx a try ;) .

Since file sharing came out, I've bought many more CDs than I would otherwise.

I generally download a song, and if I like it I go buy the CD whereas before I'd just wait for it to come on the radio.

Actually licensing content online is a pain. Record companies wonder why people aren't taking it on. I spent about $20 on songs from wiredrecords a while back. Half the time I can't play the song because the licensing has screwed up and it thinks I haven't got a license. I just gave up, deleted the wma files and downloaded the mp3 versions from Winmx.

WinMX is great! I've used Napster, Gnutella (LimeWire, BearShare, etc), Morpheous, KaZaA, etc and so far I think WinMX is my favorite. Enough people to find what you want - you can search on stuff like videos, etc - and I find it has a bigger concentration of different stuff, for example, it has a lot of audio books.

I second shaunewing's post about buying more too. Since I primarily buy movie scores it's tough to know if one is good after only hearing it once in the theater. Through the P2P networks I can get the title track or whatnot and see if the score is worth sinking my ten bucks into.

kazaalite.com offers a non-spyware version of Kazaa.
