Do you get a specific reply or mailer-daemon error?

An ISP here in Australia is also currently having problems with the Customer email system not being able to send emails to Hotmail addresses. They say that some of there mail servers have been blocked. Hotmail must be doing a lot of blocking :).

No bounce while sending via Squirrel. It just won't reach the mailbox!

You will need to contact the hotmail support staff to get the ip of your mail server to be whitelisted.

HostGator needs to do that, -not- the OP.

Why would hotmail blacklist hostgator?

Our hosting provider is Hostdime and we was same problem. Our hosting provider had contacted them and Hotmail had fixed the issue. The reason of this issue is not your hosting provider. There are a lot of bugs on Hotmail servers(on their new filtering systems). I don't like Hotmail. It's the worst mail service according to me. But most peoples use it.

It sounds like an IP filtering issue - one of the UK's biggest telecoms providers is British Telecom (BT), but I cannot send emails to anyone at Comcast because they aggressively filter out email from BT server IP's. Hope Hotmail is not doing the same - though as it's a free service, I guess there's no loss for them even if they bugger up people's emails through over-aggressive filtering.

Your best course of action is just request that you be moved to a different server. Hotmail is notorious for making it near impossible to get your server un-blacklisted once it's been tagged.

Hostgator uses a mail gateway. I don't think that changing servers will be of any help for the OP. In any case, if notified, perhaps HG can do something about it.

Why don't you submit a ticket, include plenty of details, maybe they have a ISP Blacklist dept or something.

Hotmail can be a pain blocking or filtering emails.

We had this problem a while back, contacting hotmail does help but if your mail server is correctly setup ie RDNS/OutboundIP for SMTP configured correctly with PTR Records etc. Then it should work fine.

Anyone know how to contact Hotmail?

I have a weird problem with one of our servers - can send emails to @hotmail.com but any sent to @hotmail.co.uk are bounced back. Have also found we can't send to @tiscali.co.uk either.

rDNS is fine, mail settings are fine and the IP is not on Spamcop.net.

Is there any way of finding out if hotmail are blocking?

Cheers,

Dave
