i have narrowed down my list of hosts i'm considering, and need everybody's prompt advice on which to go with!!! please see this link for more info on what i'm looking for:

http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=66906

(win2k/nt, asp, ms access)

1) webmasters.com
2) gearhost.com
3) tokios.com
4) generalhosting.com
5) aspwebserver.com

i'm not looking for the *cheapest*, i'm looking for quality & features & support.

which one should i go with?

here's some comments i have on each, tell me if i'm incorrect:
1) webmasters.com- nice site, loads of upload space, negative is paying $5 for EACH database i use?!

2) gearhost.com- seems to be good all-around, prompt replies, although i've read some complaints about reliablility & uptime problems.

3) tokios.com- nice features (dedicated ip, unlimited dbs & mail accounts, mssql space), but just one ftp account? i've heard they have exceptional support, although replies to my e-mails haven't been prompt

4) generalhosting.com- small numbers (storage, transfer, pop accts, ftp accts, etc) across the board

5) aspwebserver.com- dirt cheap, unlimited bandwidth?! although has everything i'd need.

let me know if you have any other questions! respond here or via e-mail in my profile, thanks in advance!

i'd stay away from aspwebserver.com as they offer unlimited bandwidth. If they lie to you even before you are a customer, what's gonna keep them from lying to you when you actually are one?

Out of all them, I'd go with gearhost because I have heard some good things about them, but as you said yourself, there have been some bad experiences.

Out of the ones listed I would go with GearHost. Remember that they use Windows servers, which isnt a huge deal, but it might take a while to get used to. Good luck, and let us know which host you end up going with

Doesn’t affinity.com offer NT Hosting? They bought out some pretty serious NT based hosts a few years ago. Few companies know NT/2000 like Affinity IMHO.

It’s been a while since I’ve heard anything about them.

In response to the above, I apologize if your sales inquiries were not prompty replied. At this point of time all sales inquiries are replied within 12 hours. And most support tickets are resolved within 2-3 hours.

While we value all potential customers, our main priority is to see that all our dear existing customers are well taken care off. As such the support desk is manned 24 hours a day, while the sales team works on shifts.

If there is anything else that I can do for you, please do not hesitate to me directly at matt@tokios.com.

Thank you for considering us and we wish you the best of luck in finding the right host!

after much debating, i decided to go with gearhost. i was impressed with their feature set for my needs, and got prompt responses to questions (even one from their ceo/founder). there was a lag on responses one day, but overall it was a very painless process.

i'm happy so far, i'll update as time goes on :) ...
