Using Cpanel I know its possible to move accounts from one server to another on the same network with ease, Will it work the same if I was moving from one cpanel server to another in another NOC.?

How easy is it, and do I need the help of the current host Im with.

It has been a while since I worked in WHM, but from what I remember, it does not have to be one the same network, and you need root access to move accounts. (Or at least your WHM should have that option permitted if you are a reseller).

Works a treat, I moved 300 sites from one NOC to another in about 5 hours, just set it up and hit start. You need root password,:)

The WHM transfer feature has been improved and works well. I moved ~800 sites with little difficulty.

Feel free to grab a beer or two, as it will a while :)

Note: Make sure to backup ALL files before you move, just to be safe ;)

Isn't there any way to do the move if I do not have root access?

I don't think you can do it without root access.

no, you can tar the sites with permissions in tact (if you have ssh access this is a very easy process), then ftp the tar file over ssh and then cd /home/username replace username with the username that you have setup the new account with and untar it.

Hi Robx,

If you are moving to your own other server yes this is easy.

Using Cpanel we do it many many times. due to the fact some resellers have out grown there reseller accounts and have purchased servers at our new facility.

Obviously if you are moving to your own server you will have root access. you will need this! If the current box is not your ask the server admin to move the sites over for you. They will need your root password etc. After that make sure that you change your root password for security reasons.

Everything will transfer from mysql dbs email address the same passwords etc. If you have resellers on any of the boxs you would have to reassign there Ownership to each reseller that own the domain and this is just about the process that takes the longest.

Good luck and if you need any help email me :) and if you did not understand my post sorry i am in a rush LOL

Regards
Phillip
