Today I had to reinstall some programs, but I had lost the cd keys. My friend heard this and pointed out a site to me that has links to cracks, keys, warez, porn, and a bunch of illegal stuff. How would I go about reporting such a web site?
Would I contact there host, tell them, if they don't take action goto their upstream provider? Or would it be something to report to the authorities?

Sites like that tend to be hosted overseas, and rarely last long anyway.
Sites with an actual domain name move fairly frequently, unless they have their own server (which is incredibly rare - the sites are normally run by kids, and porn banners don't exactly bring in alot of money).
Occasionally you'll see someone post in the request section of this board looking for 100gb transfer, 5gb disk space and allow porn and warez for $20 a month  They normally get short shrift.

I would think this too but in the contact information on a whois it lists him being in New York. The last time the dns was updated for the domain was June 07, 2002. So its been around for a few months.

I don't see the point in bothering. If you report them, etc. and they happen to be shut down - they'll only pop up again some place else.

Shaunewing, what if your company found out someone was hosting a warez site on your network. Would you shut them down? Yes, you probably would, but why? They'll just pop up again some other place.

Yes, good point, if they were on my network I would definately shut them down. But most that I've seen either:
a) Put it on their @Home connection (who don't seem to care about anything as long as the monthly dues are paid).
b) Go with a warez friendly hosting company.
c) Hop around from host to host when they shut down.
As a host, they would be shutdown. As a person who stumbled across a site - I wouldn't bother; a waste of my time.
