Hi;
We have a cobalt raq 4 i server and many sites on it. Everything was going well until several days when some of our sites display rubbish pages instead of displaying the site pages.
When we open http://domainname.com we have a rubbish page but when we call the index page by name as:
http://domainname.com/index.html the page opens normally. And this error happend with some domains and not necessarily with index.html page but with other html or htm pages or iframes in a page.
Does anybody have an explanation?
Please help.
Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you could have a corrupted config file, or someone may have messed you up a bit.

What do you mean by rubbish page.... exactly what do you see?

Is the 'rubbish page' physically on the server, or is it just screwing up the display???
Does this only happen to the directory index pages, or is it completely haphazard?

I meant by rubbish a page with weird characters.
This happend with several htm or html page not necessarily index pages and with different sites in the server and this might happen on some computers not all the computers. Also sometimes, when openning a site by name without requesting the index.html page clearly the internet browser will try to download the file from the site not displaying it as usual, and again this happen on some computers and with some sites on the server not all.
Please help.

It sounds like something is corrupted, though I can't imagine what.
One of my clients reported a similar problem a couple of months ago, but I was never able to duplicate the problem.
Another client complained of a similar problem, but it was due to his HTML being a little 'off' - NS4.7 didn't recognise the CSS as part of the file and attempted to download it....

Have you checked your mime types?

Hi;
We are facing a serious problem with some of our sites.
When we write the url of a site we had the page downloaded not displayed as usual. In the past, as an html pages these pages were displayed normally, but now we don't know what happened each time we request the display of these pages we had a dialog box asking to download the page or open it as a file not html page.
Does anybody know what happend and how to fix this error.

We need to uninstall mod-gzip from our server, can anybody provide us with the instructions?
Thanks,
