Seems everytime I start to think of my 'association' with fdcservers in a positive way, something happens to make me change my mind. :(

Just tonight, I tought that my pings/packet loss were back to acceptable levels and see what happened!

WebmastTroy

Well, my server's still working.

It'll be nice when they add that Yipes feed in September to make Cogent multi-homed.

Since its just part of their datacenter, its probably a switch or something like that, cause my box works fine....speeds seem to be pretty normal (although, I just got my box yesterday).

hey hey, what's this about a yipes line + multi-homed?

i had heard they would never add anything other than cogent.

Not shabby at all. I heard pretty good things about their Cogent lines (compared to others) which made me feel better about the Cogent-only network, and them adding Yipes made my decision even easier.

Hopefully they'll get this little problem fixed soon. I hate to see these kinds of problems.

i hate hearing about the problems also, and i hate it more that it seems to be on my subnet. but, you know, it happens, just, hopefully it will not happen often in the future.

i've actually been really happy with the speeds from europe on the cogent lines since starting with them.

uka

Does'nt seem to be a cogent problem. Out of my 3 servers there, 2 are working fine, but 1 is down.

Their own website seems to be intentionally switched OFF from the Plesk Server Administrator.

skylab
08-14-2002, 04:35 AM
oh no, wasn't saying it was a cogent problem. i've been really happy with them so far, just, don't like this current downtime. but, you know, it happens.

No complaints.;)

BiGWill
08-14-2002, 08:49 AM
well i'd say their problem is, that they'r not running BGP, and just add new lines for new segments each time the old ones get overload ... but if one of the lines fail, then one of the segment will be down. very simple, eh? ;-)
well i was very tempted about giving their offer a shot too ... but i'm having the same experience as prime :/

i've been up for awhile now. i'm very very pleased with fdc since i've been with them (which hasn't been very long, so, i can't really give a glowing review yet). however, the speeds are better than i've had in awhile (with servers on yipes, aleron, and sprint).

but i am back up and running strong at the moment and quite happy with fdc (can i say it again?).

but, the idea of a bgp4 cogent/yipes route for the same price i'm getting now is a nice one.

AFAIK, they don't even guaruntee 1% uptime.

wtf kinda site is that?

It does charitable filehosting for some sites, most notably http://halo.bungie.org.

For what it's worth, that box doesn't appear to have been down recently (at least, not due to any problems on KingComp's end). It's been down a bit as I've tried to work on a problem with manifested itself after a big bandwidth spike -- the switch the box is hooked into at KingComp doesn't respond that it's capable of 100base-TX operation anymore when my NIC tries to autonegotiate with it, so the box is only connected at 10mb/sec now. :(

Yes there was a downtime earlier today on one older subnets, where we allow shell hosting where the router got DOSed and which affected about 30 servers.
It in no way affected any of our new circuits
