I've had some less than favorable experiences over the last year. For those reasons, I HAD to write this review of my experience with Scala Hosting.

I've been in IT for over 25 years and have worked in multiple sized corporate world environments. From Fortune 1000 companies to pre IPO startup companies. The reason I say this is to give you a perspective of knowledge and experience I have in the systems world. I’ve held positions from being an operator to Sr. Director so I understand the range of requirements in detail.

There are multiple choices out there and you really don’t know what you are getting into when you sign up with someone. I have had to switch hosting companies about 4-5 times in the last year for various reasons. Ranging from poor quality service, excessive downtime, and for my most favorite one…with no notice, the company shut the doors and left all customers without websites, backups (if you didn’t do them yourself), and no contact or way to get your sites if you didn’t’ plan. It has NOT been a lot of fun.

After some time with Scala Hosting, I have to say I’m impressed as they are doing it right. There is REAL 7 x 24 support. They are VERY responsive. I have experienced NO downtime. And they do what they say they will do.

They are organized and it is clear there are processes and procedures in place. From the actions I have seen from them, they have done the planning required to have a stable environment and they have a strong base of knowledge.

I have to say, this was my easiest transition ever from ANY of the providers. My sites were up in minutes after I supplied the backups. Not hours or, “you are on you own” as I have seen with other companies.

The response when using live chat or helpdesk tickets has been quick, courteous, and accurate. Little things that can crop up when moving sites have been resolved quickly. Again, this was the fastest and smoothest transition I have seen with any hosting provider. It was painless.

And, you won’t find anyone more responsive or helpful than Vince in tech support. He is the one I worked with about 99% of the time.

I think I've found the needle in the haystack by signing up with Scala Hosting.

Thanks for the positive review of Scala.

It is good to see the 'good guys' getting praise, it's so easy to focus on the negative & poorly run 'hosts's.

One observation I'd make which cant be quantified, but is apparent from your review.
You have found a host your 'comfortable with', to me that's the most important thing.
Differant people need differant hosts, the controled proceedures, that suit you so well, may not suit others. Thats not intended as a criticism, it's an observation.
Very much a case of 'the best host for you'.

So, glad your happy
and well done Scala.

i have been with Scala a few months now and haven't had any problems. There support is tops and they are the first truly 24/7 support hosting company i have used. i have never had to send a ticket as the live support is always online and whatever problem i have is resolved while online.

To clarify the problems i am talking about is my problems and not issues with the server.;)

I should clarify that....when I say controlled procedures, they are internal procedures and not anything they have put on me to do. I'm saying it seems to me that they have thought things through and when X happens, they have Y ready to fix it. It happens behind the curtain, I'm still up and running not knowing that changes were made in the back end.

It is just a sense that I get based on the years of knowing what it takes on the advanced planning side to make the infrastructure transparent to the end user. In other words, it just works.

It seems easy to the end user, but the team worked their butts off and put the right hardware, system, and internal procedures in place to have it seamless to the customer. They have just been there when I've needed them and have given me confidence that they will be there to help me as my business grows.

When I first logged onto my hosting account, went into the system status which I almost always do the very first thing, a saw a BEAUTIFUL display of solid green lights with extremely low numbers. I've not seen that at any other hosting company.

Then, when I went back to the WHM and looked there, I saw 8 cpu's, and lots of memory. I wasn't expecting dual quad's. Needless to say, my sites render quickly.

Well, that was a long answer to a short statement of "procedures." To clarify, I wasn't pushed through any hoops, but have a sense that they put "internal procedures" in place showing that they plan to be there in the long haul and provide an excellent customer experience.

Hey, that sounds great, what plan are you signed up for with them?

I'm on one of the smaller hosting plans as it fits my current requirements. More than enough hard drive space and bandwidth.

I hope to see myself outgrow it soon. And that is up to me to make that happen.

The last hosting company I was with, I had just launched a campaign. Just after all the work to get it all set up and everyone notified, all my sites were down. And, I could almost always expect that to happen. It wasn't fun.

To top it all off, if I would have told them in advance that I was planning on having a possible extra load coming, they probably would have tried to sell me an upgrade.

Needless to say, Scala is a breath of fresh air and a joy to work with. It feels like they are on my team and not fighting against me to do what they say they will do on the sales page, "Provide Service." It's a pretty simple concept.

I'm a smaller customer to Scala, and they have been very responsive. I've had a vendor tell me, if I wanted reasonable response times to tickets, get a dedicated server. And that was the answer to a 6 hour downtime on an overloaded server that they overloaded. It was not a reasonable answer to a support request.

Sorry for being so long winded, but this vendor has given me a great experience after dealing with a bunch of "less than professional" hosting companies.

I'm glad I found the webhostingstuff(dot)com/category/Reseller-Web-Hosting(dot)html
review site. That was a great find.

Robertdol,
thanks for even further clarification, your obviosly very hapy, which is great, & also great to know Scala are providing Stela' service.

I thought I dedected a hint of 'UK - 1 & 1's style of procedures, very rigid, wlthout flexability.
I was obviously mistaken.
If a business is built on the right foundations, it will always do well.

Well done Scala.
