1. Try to logout and delete all cockies
2. Try to contact their support if doesn't help option 1
Hopw you get it solved soon
Good luck

How do you contact their support? The only way I know is through the help centre. And if I were to select "closing" account as my problem, it got me nowhere, ie it will just provide me instructions on how to close my account.
I did however, 2 weeks back, somehow accidentally (not sure what option I selected) sent an email to their support team. But have had no reply up to today.

Paypal has made it very difficult to get to support by email as well as by phone.
It's very frustrating
Rageki-John 02-13-2008, 10:31 PM That's weird. I remember the closing of my Paypal account was instant. There is one thing that Paypal is good and quick at doing. Charging fees for every transaction you recieve :stickout: .
RDOSTI 02-14-2008, 03:45 AM Closing is easy...even if you have money in it...but if you owe money or have a pending "issue" - you probably just cant get away with it....
Ive never closed my account though Ive read tons of people trying to do that - whether its because theyre tired of paypal or other..none with issues like yours (based on it being a normal shut down)
Contact PayPal support via Tele or email though.
I would understand if I had any unresolved issues but the fact is that, the account was create years ago and have never been used.
Oh well, I can only wait...

Na, sending an e-mail to PP is easy,
getting a reply, well I have NO idea, I've never had a reply e-mail from PP support.
linux-tech 02-14-2008, 12:11 PM Hi,
has anyone had experience trying to close a paypal account?
Yup,
5+ years ago now. Had everything routed to my personal domain, and I wanted it to go to the professional side. Closing the account was incredibly easy and painless. Just follow their instructions from any standards compliant browser (FF, Opera should be fine, don't know about IE).

Paypal has made it very easy to get support, really. Pick up the phone, call them. Pretty simple! Mail? It's not the best, but it happens.

Sending an email to paypal is hardly 'easy'. In fact, it can't be done. An email is defined as that which is sent by an email CLIENT, NOT form contact.
E-Mail to paypal is impossible, at least for standard support. You need to contact them using their form.

correction: I should have said 'sending an e-mail through there support form to support' is easy.
I would seriously like to know if anyone has recieved a response from using there form ?
reporting spoof via e-mail always gets a response.
linux-tech 02-14-2008, 01:00 PM I've gotten responses on numerous occasions through the form system. The pain is always responding to those replies.

I have called them but, could never get through. They kept asking me to enter the last 4 digits of the CC used to make the transaction. Even when I entered they would still ask me the same again.
Wasted a lot of money for those Overseas calls. Why don't they provide a Toll Free No.
linux-tech 02-14-2008, 01:11 PM Paypal is an international organization. For them to provide toll free support in every country would be just flat out insane. Even for them to provide support for one country (say, the U.S.) would be insane. It would add massive costs to their structure, and quite honestly, is unnecessary.
SOMEONE has to pay for their support and 'toll free' operations, personally, I don't find that expense necessary, given the frequency (almost never) that I have to contact them.

I totally understand your point of view.
But, then why don't they make it simpler for people to get to them. I don't mind paying overseas call charges but, the work should be done.
If you ask last 4 digits of CC used for the transaction in question - you should go forward to the next menu when that is entered rather than saying that it is invalid and repeating the same tape over and over again.
Brian-de-vie 02-14-2008, 04:47 PM I might be doing what I always tell others not to do, but:
making a few assumptions, it appears to me [I'm actualy a PayPal fan],
that:
UK customers get treated worse, especialy since it [PP-UK], became Euro - PayPal.
US customers get priority treatment 'because' there American[US citizens].
my 2cents worth, less a 'small admin charge' !
ewebspacenet 02-15-2008, 07:31 PM I believe the process isn't so complicated after all, depending on whether you have open account issues. When you login, go to Account > Profile > Close Account.
In doing so, your account history and reputation will be lost. Just make sure that's what you want to do.

I wished it was that easy.
Unfortunately, after confirming that I will lose my account history etc, it will take me to this page that says something like, we are sorry to see you go, please select up to three reason why you are leaving us... and then the cycle continues...
