hi guys,
I know my following question isnt stricktly to do with webhosting but it is still hosting related so bear with me.

I am wanting to setup a bulk sms messaging service for SME's to large corporate comapnies. I have the software system built but now I need to know how to host it.

What kind of server/s will I need? Will it require 24/7 management. And what are terms like X25 connections if anyone knows a company who has done this or will help with some free inital advise I will appreciate it.

Regards

Aaron

Im in the UK, what kind of system did you setup?

We are looking for general info about connecting our wap/sms gateway to the four main mbiles operator smsc's.

We need info regarding mcommerce as well.

At present we need the info on how to initiate such projects but will probably need to outsource when needed.

Could you email me as I dont want to discuss some of the finer points on here. Could you tell me where you are based as well?

Regards

Aaron

you should also check out some African bulk SMS providers with real API interface. They usually offer the best pricing... (comparing to UK providers that are really expensive)

Yes but their SMS-C are blocked by mobile operators.

In fact we have made that for a customer but what you need to know:
- bulk SMS sending is NOT a good business because you need VERY high volumes to get decent prices from mobop
- so if you just want to send SMS, you don't need to connect to mobop, you have to go with a bulk provider who make high volumes. You'll get better prices and better uptime / bandwith
- all these bulk companies offer many ways to spool your messages (ftp, smtp, whatever you want)
- if you want a VERY good company and paying a little extra for quality is not a problem, i'll go with netsize.com . I think they are really the best. We have adviced our customer from the beginning to them. When he understood they got better prices than him due to volume, our customer stopped all is servers and went with them. They'd have listened us instead of just paying us.
