What's best deal on hardware these days for VE / VM hosting?

And what do you think the best way to partition it is?

I just picked up a dell quad xeon 2.8ghz, with 16gbs ram, 5 x 146 drives, and 3 power supplies for $3K.

I was going to run VMware server 2 beta on as the host OS, and then run

- a Windows Server 2003 for windows hosting - what control panel should i get? i don't want anything too expensive

- a couple openvz VMs for shared hosting accounts - what control panel should i get for these? something open source is best

For my shared VE hosting now I use HSPComplete - 1 main and 2 hosting servers - but it was too expensive and the Swsoft / PArallels support team brought my servers down a couple of times and I lost accounts - so i don't want to use them again.

lol, but a $3K server for starters:stickout:
Look into Virtuozzo VE, they can fit more on the one machine, if your willing to pickup a 3 grand server then probably find some good software to put on it

I got the box off eBay from Chad at Aventis. If you contact him - please let give him my name so I can get a deal off my next box!
