View Full Version : Billing software
kerrya 02-01-2008, 12:46 AM I recently installed AWBS system and it's OK. We've had a bit of a rough start getting it going with a control panel interface, 2x domain registars and a merchant account, but it seems to be OK now.
However I'm finding it limited in the way it can configure hosting packages. All the company can do is offer to put my requests on a wish list for some future release.
Does anyone know of a package that can offer the following features:
1) two and three year contracts
2) setup fees set at different time frames. i.e. the package has a setup fee if the time frame is less than one year, but waived if one year or greater.
3) waive domain registration fees based on time frame (similar to point 2)
Also, the configuration of interface is vary archaic. It seemed a bit like a blast from the past, with limited to almost non-existent documentation.
I'm not knocking AWBS, they have been good to me and I rate their support department high. I just think they have not kept up with the times.
Any advice appreciated.
Thanks
Kerry
Vinayak_Sharma 02-01-2008, 03:25 AM Have you checked WHMCS & Ubersmith.
linux-tech 02-01-2008, 03:30 AM WHMCS (http://www.whmcs.com) should, in fact be able to handle this for you. I know that certain 'coupons' can be used in conjunction to waive fees, and I know that you can setup products with varying payments (ie: quarterly, monthly, etc).

I went into their demo account, and they seem to have a bit more support for my issues, but I'm a bit confused. They seem to offer setup fees as a recurring charge as well as a one time charge. They do define them at different time frames as well, I'm just not sure why they would have setup fees as a recurring charge. Ours is a one time fee, but it only applies on shorter time contracts. We want to waive it as a bonus for buying a longer contract.

Having the ability to add Setup fees as recurring or not is just an extra feature, just in case someone does want it.

This is possible in WHMCS.

Although it's an interesting feature, I still don't see how I could have a one time setup fee that only applies to monthly and quarterly agreements, but not to annual or longer agreements.
I also don't see support for three year or longer agreements.
Maybe I'm just not understanding.
Thanks

Actually, it's quite simple and self explanatory, not complicated at all which iss what I love about WHMCS
Each area has their own 'setup fee'. Monthly, quarterly, semi-anually, anuallly. If you want to reward clients for say paying anually, leave the setup fee off, and put some special pricing in there. If you want a higher monthly setup fee, then add that there.
These aren't billed every cycle (monthly, etc), they are (or should be) billed one time.
Maybe he doesn't have 2 and 3 year length terms in there, but he's always available for customization of his own code, and usually this is done pretty reasonably.
Of course, I don't use setup fees, so I can't attest to that being how things work 100%, but logically, that would be exactly how it is. Different setup fees for different cycles and one time payments.
