Hey,

I'm launching a NEW product catered for web hosting companies, but frankly, I'm pretty novice in doing market survey.

What would you recommend in getting feedback, opinion of my product?

I'm seeking for feedback from webhosting companies, not the website owner.

Well, we're all web hosts, why not show it to us (in the Feedback forum sections)?

The feedback forum, did you mean 'Other Reviews' section?

Well, I'm keen to disclose it but it could be too soon. But again, it's a chicken and egg question.

Without market survey, you do not know if the product is on demand. On the other hand, you are worried of the idea being copied etc being disclosed...

What do you think? I'm pretty new in launching products *lol*

Would you want to disclose what you are about to launch or prefer to be Apple, extreme secrecy?

If your product is related to hosting, i think you should put a thread in "Advertising Forums : Related Offers and Requests : Other Hosting Related Offers" otherwise you can post it in "Advertising Forums : Related Offers and Requests : Other Offers and Requests".

My suggestion is that you give a little detail about your product and ask for web hosting owners to contact you. Later you can select few hosting owners who has contacted you and offer them a review copy of your product. After they got review copy and used your product, you can ask them feedback, comment etc...

I have seen that this method works in many cases. But, it may vary from product to product and customer to customer.

Thanks.

PS. I am not a web host but if you accept my advice please do consider me for a review copy... :)
Regards.

I don't think the OP is even at the point where they have a testable product.

"market survey" is often more along to lines of "If we developed XXX, would you pay YYY", and it is very chicken and egg.

There are companies out there that will do this research for you with a sample of people/businesses and have them sign NDAs. I expect they'll charge a lot for this type of product though.. tracking down web hosts tat will sign a NDA and answer questions would be tough.

I would like to know first, if it is a software, or someother thing...

Yes, it will be helpful if we can have idea what exactly your product is?
It's a software, script, control panel, billing software, ebook etc..........

If it's relevant to your product, you could do things in phases. Launch a small version of it and test demand. If there's demand, continue with the rest of the development.

If you want to know how to do market surveys, read any of Kotler's books. Great advice there.

If your idea is so precious that you are worrying about people copying it, then it's not a good idea to start with. The "barrier to entry" as they say, should be high, for it to be sustainable.
