I am currently looking for a good piece of software (preferably LAMP) that can manage sales of digital products, or downloadable goods, primarily through the mans of paypal. Free would be good, or cheap if that.

I am 90% sure that OSCommerce and Zen-Cart both have plugins that allow the sale of digital goods. Not sure if this is what you're looking for but worth a look at least.

Zen-Cart has this ability out of the box, and it's leaps and bounds better than OSCommerce.

I use dlguard but it is expensive. It uses paypal (plus other payment methods) and can handle subscriptions as well as single items.
It also creates a download link after payment and you can set the download limit for that buyer in time or number of times downloaded. But it is expensive.

I second phpaudit, the staff is incredibly reasonable and will help out with anything you need (from what I've seen). I've got a license I've yet to use anything of (expiring soon, heh), and can't say anything but good stuff about 'em.
