Can some of you help me in what hardware I should use on my server?? I want to go duals and raid 1 with ide hard drives.

Well, obviously an UltraSparc would be nice, but I think the person is actually looking to get one of the server types listed... maybe an UltraSparc is out of their price range ;)


My vote goes to dual PIIIs. I worry about the cooling of dual Athlons...

Depends on how much you want to spend and what your needs are. I mean really, do you need dual Athlons? Is the heat (and associated component failure risk) worth it? If you're talking Intel, I'd go with Dual P3 versus P4. We haven't seen P4s be worth it for most hosting needs.

I would say athlon, but in dual configuration those Pentium 3 512kb Cache(tualtalin core spell), are really good for web hosting so ive heard. They dispense not much heat, and perform very well in bench marks.

I don't know a lot about Athlon's but I'd have a single P3 over a P4 anytime.

We have been buying Dual P3's lately and they are the business :D
