i was wondering whether to get a shared hosting plan or a cheap but decent reseller plan...

my friend and i would like to get a host but in the future he wants to have his own domain. so will it be easier if we get two separate shared hosting, or a reseller plan and just split it?

please reply w/ your expert advise =p

Hi,

If you only want to host the two sites you are better of getting two virtual hosting plans, a reseller plan would probably be a waste of money.

please reply w/ your expert advise =p If you're sure you only want two domains, then shared is probably cheaper.

If you have three or more then someone like Voxtreme looks good - in fact you could buy shared from them and then convert to reseller when ready; I'm sure they would move the accounts for you then which would make life easy.

Get one shared - then resell to your friend (%50 less cost mostly)to check out the reseller thing first hand. It might not save any money, but why nore check it out anyway.

A reseller to share between both of yous could be a good idea. Above this you may even have extra space to host a few more friends.

Sometimes resellers work out cheaper aswell.

Another area to look at when considering either getting a shared or reseller account is support. Normally (though not always), the level of support provided in shared accounts is more than resellers accounts. Resellers are often expected to know what they are doing, wherelse on shared accounts mosts hosts are somewhat more flexible.

Hello,

As some friends mentioned, you can go for any of them... If you are willing to host two domains, you can go for two different virtual hosting accounts. However both together may cost you between US$ 14-20. ( Good once, you can get cheap once for 4 US$ ) which I don't recommend you.

Still you are able to go for reseller plan, starting from US$ 19 - 30 ( good once, starter plan of course ), then you can host more than 2 domains, might you get another after a while.

All depends on yourself.

Anyway, wish you lucks buddy.

Hello,

Well.... First of all you've gotta have a web site, especially designed to provide web hosting services.

Have a look at this link, read it from first to end, very very useful for those who wants to start their web hosting business:

http://www.thewhir.com/reseller/articles/byobrand.cfm

Second, once your web site is ready, you have to look for a company who's providing you a topnotch reseller program with reasonable prices. Im not saying go for cheap once. Cause they say " you get what you pay for "

And keep in mind, choose a good one. By being a web hosting reseller, you are the person who's in charge and responsible for other web sites being hosted in your account. Lets say once the server of company who's providing you with reseller account goes down, of course your site and all the sites being hosted on your account will be down as well. " So, search and search and at last but not least, SEARCH !

Third, you've gotta look for a merchant account who provides you with a service that you can accept credit cards online. I will recommend you to go with Revecom.com. Been working with them for almost a year and half, and they've been very loyal, helpful and their customer service is great. I guess you won't be able to fine a merchant account provider with this reasonable prices as following:

- Discount rate: % 3.95 ( Whatever you sell, %3.95 of it will be subtracted from your account and will go to Revecom's pocket. That means every US$ 100.00 , US$ 3.95 )

- Transaction fee: US$ 1.00 ( Per any transaction that been captured, you will be charged US$ 1.00 )

- Setup fee: One time setup fee of US$ 49.00 and you can accept almost 4-8 major credit cards.

- No monthly fees.

Anyway, then you have to make the quick sales links through their control panel and place it at your web site.

Then, you've gotta market your business and start making money.

Hope it was helpful for you... In advance wish lots of lucks.

PS: However, making money is not that 4-5 easy steps... Quite hard !!! may take you 1-2 month to have your first customer. But once you got 10, it will grow and grow.

Ciao
