Hi, im in the UK and a few friends have been thinking about getting a stun/tazer gun for those violent nights out clubbing :)

Anyone got any experience with them, purchased one, either in the UK or anywhere else in the world, Id just like to know how well they work and what they can do.

Also which type is best to get and how many volts I should go for, any help would be appreciated :D

Oh, also, can i actually get them in the UK and are they legal?, hehe

They're illegal in the UK, and you'd be looking a prison sentence if you were caught with one.

Stunguns are cool.. I have one 200,000 volt and one 400,000 I screw around alot with the 200,000 volt one and it really does not hurt that bad if your looking to imobilize someone go for 400,00 they will be down for a while.. though I would suggest mace before a stungun for what your looking for. As far as it being illegal it is here in the US also unless you have a FID card which is basically a mace, stungun, bb gun license but if you get caught typically they just take it away at the most you go to jail get a 25 dollar bail and pay a 100 fine or something to the court.. not a big deal.. infact my wife carrys mace just for protection and I dont see anything wrong with it as long as you dont act like and ass with it.. there would not be all these rules if everyone just acted mature..

Your better off getting mase or pepper spray. There's a good online shop for that stuff and have all sorts of self defense stuff.
Defenseagainstcrime is a good legal online shop and everything gets to the UK well pepper spray and that does anyway.

mac10 in his passenger seat

That's illegal. I believe you have to have it properly mounted and with no ammunition in it. Of course, Florida's state laws may be different.

for those violent nights out Maybe things are different where you live, but once you start to carry a weapon with you you've entered a different world and have started to escalate things. Maybe that's safe if your stun gun is going to be the baddest thing out there on your "violent nights out," but if other guys are going to be carrying knives, guns, or whatever you are only asking for trouble.

Some people, under some circumstances, will be stopped instantly by a stun gun. Others will be perfectly capable of doing anything they want -- some for three seconds, some for ten, some indefinitely. And that's even more true with pepper spray. These "non-lethal" weapons will stop some people, and slow some down, and discourage those who aren't really motivated. But against other people it will only make them really mad.

And, depending on what happens when you break these things out, you risk being the one who goes to jail.

In short, I'd advise against it. I'd advise instead just keeping a low profile, and when things start to get out of hand... walk away.

Gun laws in the US are whacked at best. In one state you can carry a concealed handgun without a permit and in another like massachusetts if you get caught with a handgun (loaded or not) without a license your in prison for 5 years minimum.

What you need is a good wrist rocket and a pile of rocks...you'll be all set :D

Bail enforcement agents are licensed by individual states, and they have no special rights at all once they cross state lines -- and they certainly aren't exempt from federal gun laws. Also, in every state I know of that license doesn't bring with it a right to carry a firearm of any kind; they, just like everyone else, have to apply for and be granted that permit -- and again, it's issued by their state and isn't valid in other states.

In some states with tougher firearm licensing laws you need to have some reason to apply for a gun license, and having a BEA license would generally meet the requirement. But being a licensed bounty hunter, or private detective, or private security officer, or even usually a reserve or auxiliary police officer, doesn't in most states bring with it the right to use a handgun.

That's exactly right. Prior to RackNine, it's predecessor, and University I spent some time working as a bouncer. It's all a matter of deterrence vs. aggression: If someone's pissed off enough there's nothing you can do short of physically removing them from the situation that'll stop them. Knives, mace, and shock devices can provide a mild deterrent but if you're pumped and know it's coming you'll be back on your feet in a second.
