View Full Version : Can't Sign Up for Namecheap account
This is getting very annoying. I'm trying to register two domains and I can't create a Namecheap.com account.
I click on "Sign-Up" and I fill out all of the text-boxes - yes, every box - and when I click "submit", I get the following:Some required fields are not filled.
Please press your browsers BACK button and to go to the sign-up screen and enter all fieldsI am entering all fields! Every single field!
There must be a glitch in the system or something, but this is getting extremely frustrating as to it not letting me create an account.
Has anyone else had this problem or might someone know why it keeps giving me that error message even though all fields are filled out?
kreativ 08-12-2002, 03:04 AM E-mail NameCheap support.
They're known to have good support, and I'm sure it doesn't get any worse when it involves a potential client.
I finally was able to create an account.
The problem was, the "fax number" box was left blank.
I didn't think it would be necessary to enter that box. Either that, or, maybe it was down at the time.
Anyway, I manged to set up the account. :)
Thank you.

Hmm, okay. :)
Well, it's the only service I've ever encountered that wouldn't let you sign up without entering a fax number.
What I should have said was "every essential field"
I find it hard to beleive that every one that registers a domain has a fax number. The only reason I have a fax number is because I have a free voicemail/fax number with www.k7.net
I suppose one could enter 999-999-9999 as in the fax text box though.
Just odd if the fax text box was the stumbling block. This was the 7th and 8th domain I just registered and I was about to go with GoDaddy if it wasn't working.
Galiah 08-12-2002, 05:02 AM i tried to transfer my domain's registration to name cheap and their page kept screwing on me...
1st. i signed up and everything was ok, put all the info and put n/a in the things i thought weren't necessary.
so ok i was ready to go and put in my transfer request and pay with CC.
it lets you review your info to make sure its right before checking out, which was at 1st right. then i went to check out and filled the form and submitted it, but i got a message that it didn't accept my request.
i tried again.. and after like 3 tries, when i got to the review your info i noticed the info was wrong, in the e-mail field was a @namecheap.com e-mail (i think the owner's) and i don't remember what else was wrong. but i changed it and tried again with the checkout.. still didn't work..
after that try i went back to the user info's to check if there was something wrong. my e-mail was changed to that @namecheap.com e-mail, and my PW was changed.. don't remember what else..
anyway i kept trying and i sent 2 e-mails to the support..
and tried to sign out and sign in but when i tried signing in it didn't work..
i got a reply from support saying my info was fraudulent and it didn't match the CC (i was using some one else's CC, the name was the only different thing in the whole form), and that they canceled my account. i guess thats why the whole e-mail and PW changing was about..
well i just wasn't impressed by how they didn't have separated info for billing and support and owner..ect. u know what the basics other registering site have. so i just gave up and went with www.godaddy.com. not much diff with the price and they know what they're doing.. actually have separate forms for info about the billing and owner..ect.
i suggest going with www.godaddy.com and not namecheap. if you wanted a cheaper site, i think i've seen some resellers from godaddy that sell domains for 7.something.. though not sure what was the url..
i don't know if this was of any help, but i hope it was.
good luck! :D
Galiah 08-12-2002, 05:08 AM btw. if something wierd like that happens in a site you're supposed to give your CC info or money to, its not worth it, look else where.
kreativ 08-12-2002, 05:51 AM For a personal domain, you certainly wouldn't want to have your real fax info in the public whois. Junk faxes are already annoying enough...no need for more of those.
One of the things I like about GoDaddy, you already noticed.
Two fields. One for billing and one for the owner.
Because my CC is in my Companys name, most CC's kick back a fraud notice, if I use my name to register a domain name instead of the Company name.
GoDaddy allows me to order domains in whose ever name I want, (myself, my company or a client) and still be able to charge it to the Company charge card.
Reptilian Feline 08-13-2002, 08:39 AM You can put n/a in the fax-box and such. It worked for me. You can buy domains for other people with your own card, but I don't think you can use someone elses card to pay for your own. That is... I buy the domain and then transfer it to someone else. I have had no trouble with them, exept a small glich that was resolved a few hours later(I didn't check every ten minutes to find out), and got a nice reply from them as well. No problem what so ever, but then I didn't try and cheat either...;)
enetwork 08-13-2002, 09:05 AM Galiah,
If your account was closed with us it was because of all the declines you experienced. We then cross referenced your account information with your credit card information which did not match. We experience a high level of fraud so we must be very careful and we are very vigilant about fraud. If we made a mistake in your case I do sincerely apologize. I hope you understand our position in the matter as well. As for filling out our sign up form, it is ok to use a simple n/a (not applicable) if a field does not apply to you. Best,
Richard Kirkendall
