Hi,

I currently use http://www.webfusion.co.uk/ to host my website, which is a fan site for the band Mojave 3 (is www.mojave3online.com)

They are pretty good, except the package I have costs 19.99 UK Pounds per month. I'm pretty sure that this is too high, and I could be paying less for the same? You can see what they offer at http://www.webfusion.co.uk/homeuser-info.shtml , I have the pro account.

I was wanting to change to a US host... as they usually seem cheaper - and most of my visitors come from the US anyhow.

Can someone list the top 5 or 10 US hosts, so I can compare prices? I'm not interested in small companys (even though they perhaps offer a great service). I just don't want to risk the hassle.

Thanks a lot!
Ed.

ps. isn't it strange, that the company I'm with - their USA branch offer more for less?? what's up with this??

I am not sure if you are going to be able to get a list such as the "top 5" as everyone has a different opinion. I suggest researching a couple hosts them coming back and asking about them and if anyone has any rewiews for them. either that or rename the title something like "who is your favorite/best host. good luck :D

:) I know... BUT.. if I ask for everyone's fav. host - then I'd get a 1000 different answers....

Let me rephrase the question! ;)

Who are the 5 BIGGEST hosts in the USA?

I realise that doesn't mean the best - but I'm interested anyhow.

Hello firend,

I would suggest you to have a look at web hosting directories such as HostPulse.com [http://www.hostpulse.com ] and click on their top 25.

Other hosting directories such as WebHostDir.com

Have a great day!

Biggest 5 (hosting most domains), I'd say are:

Interland
Earthlink
ValueWeb
XO
Verio

haha :D

thanks for the comments and links guys.

in fact, I'm a little happier about my own host now. There prices are expensive - but when comparered to the other 'big boys'... about the same.

So for the record, if you have the money, and want a good host in the UK - http://www.webfusion.co.uk/ are pretty good.

I'm gonna keep researching though, because I 'have' to spend less on my webhosting - can't afford to keep the site running any more :(

edk: check out http://www.valuehost.co.uk/hosting/ I think I'm going to sign up with them today, most of their deals seem to be really decent, feature, speed and price-wise.

The only worry I have is their 'unlimited' bandwidth offer, but I've been told it's unofficially 30-40GB/mo or around there... and I've been assured it's not really a problem.

Your paying £200 a year for what valuehost can do for £161 and with more space & features too.
