We all know the pixelbrick style, but what next? What will be the new style.

What will be the new style. Bannaz 08-11-2002, 05:42 AM Thats a good point! Havn't thought about that actually... I think someone needs to come up with a real new and different style for the rest of the designers to follow.. thats when it will change! :) akashik 08-11-2002, 09:23 AM  Maybe the new 'style' should involve people using their own imaginations Greg Moore Aussie Bob 08-11-2002, 09:26 AM Originally posted by akashik  Maybe the new 'style' should involve people using their own imaginations Greg Moore I think I might have done just that. :D :stickout akashik 08-11-2002, 09:31 AM Hey Bob, you may just be right there. First time I checked out your new site structure I was a bit worried it would fall on it's face, but once you think about it, it's quite a good idea. For the people, by the people :) *edit* Incidently, I presume the pizza tutorial means 400 degrees F, not 400 degrees C. :D Greg Moore Bannaz 08-11-2002, 09:49 AM New styles are used as inspiration though akashik, of course we don't want to imply that rips or copies are any kind of good idea though!! akashik 08-11-2002, 10:01 AM oh I agree with you there. It's great to be inspired by people's work. You gotta admit though, some people take inspiration and cut it pretty fine to the bone :D Commercial sites are sometimes hard to work with though. You need to maintain function over form. You'll remember the backlash over 'mystery meat' navigation when it was big a while back. Then there was orange and grey sites... everywhere. Flash splashes were just before that with everyone loading a 1 meg flash file as an index. With luck things are settling down a little now and webdesign is becoming a collection of 'best of' ideas. Something 'organic' would be nice as a design trend. Nature images, natural lines etc etc... that's just me though :) Greg Moore DoobyWho 08-11-2002, 11:07 AM Pixelbrick is nice, but its not the best. I have yet to see the best. This is a rather odd statement. DoobyWho 08-11-2002, 12:16 PM Well basically im saying pixelbrick is nice, but it doesnt truly amaze me. Nothing i have seen has truly amazed me. So when i see something that does, it will probably be the best ive seen. SimonMc 08-11-2002, 12:43 PM Originally posted by DoobyWho Pixelbrick is nice, but its not the best. I have yet to see the best. Uhmm..now that makes a lot of sense. If it is not the best...you must know what the best is. If it is not the best you have seen...you must have seen better. How can you compare something to something that does not exist. It is like Mr McNaulty saying Ive got the fastest broadband connection...but I don't know what the fastest broadband connection is. Anyway...I am all confused now. Simon DoobyWho 08-11-2002, 12:44 PM Well pixelbrick doesn't amaze me, therefor, its not the best in my opinion. When something amazes me, itll be the best. Bannaz 08-11-2002, 01:18 PM Usually something is best when you can't compare it to something else. :D CritticAge 08-11-2002, 05:45 PM I must say, SoftWareRevue is on to a nice style! Some of you might of seen it in the reviews forum. |
