I really need to make decision soon!!! I am looking for reliable service and good tech support.
thanks in advance.

webkami 08-11-2002, 01:16 AM My vote for tokios
for excellent support
Rochen 08-11-2002, 01:20 AM I would tend to widen your search :)
However, out of the ones listed, I would recommend HostingMatters.com.

Oh gosh.. Thanks! We appreciate that.
However, out of the ones listed, I would recommend HostingMatters.com.
I know that HostingMatter.com has quite a good reputation, but I didn't know they offered Windows hosting??

I didn't say they did, I was simply naming the best host from the list provided.
Sky7777 08-11-2002, 01:44 AM Yeah, HostingMatters has no win hosting! My bad!

Hey not a problem. It tends to get confusing at times :-)
Good luck in your search for the right host
Perfecthost 08-11-2002, 02:00 AM My vote would go for HostingMatters. Unfortunately, they do not offer "Windows" hosting----only Linux based.
edit---Nevermind, I somehow skipped one of the posts here. Sorry for the re-run.

Sky7777 08-11-2002, 02:03 AM I am now comparing between Gearhost and HalfpriceHosting, and comments???
I am looking a hosting with real good tech support like forum and extensive knowledgebase- GearHost says they are developing a new support area, any better than HalfpriceHosting's knowledgebase and support features?? Anyone any experience? I am hoping to go with GearHost, but i really not impressed by the support features/services in the site!
Your comments are greatly appreciated!

webkami 08-11-2002, 02:05 AM So if Hosting Matters dont provide Windows Host
and still getting votes
then the vote goes to LINUX:D
BTW Sky777 why dont you ommit Hosting Matters from the list?
P.S.
i am waiting for Lindows HOST:D
tokios.com 08-11-2002, 02:07 AM A simple test would be to test out the support responsiveness of both the hosts in question. That should be a rough indication of how well they respond to future support tickets. Shoot them an e-mail with your questions and see how they respond.
P.S. i am waiting for Lindows HOST
What's a Lindows host? Wait, let me guess.... Its a server Running Linux Redhat 7.x with Windows 2000 installed under a VMware Virtual Machine :-)

I also think so
my current host (linux) stays online on MSN
thats what i call 24/7 Support
i even get mail replies in 7 minutes
this is the way you can judge these two hosts.
Sky7777 08-11-2002, 02:21 AM I guess GearHost doesn't offer 24/7 phone support, but HalfPriceHosting does!!! And half.. has great support features that can be real helpful to me if I signup with them..!!!
Any last comments dear friends?

No its a host based on new OS Lindows(Still in beta). :D
i think its an attempt to provide Linux to Window Users in a new name
but who knows what will happen next..........
Sky7777 gearhosting looking better to me.
webkami 08-11-2002, 02:24 AM gearhost contact page says:

Sky7777 08-11-2002, 02:34 AM I really didn't see the " 24 Hour Support Center" in GearHost's website??? That's only a toll-free phone support? or other means?
Called toll-free, but had to leave a message! But that's the sales dept though, does the tech support does the same thing too, leave a msg, and wait for them to return calls?
Any other "instant" ways to contact the tech support of Gearhost? Like MSN Messenger? ICQ?......???
When is the knowledgebase and support site be fully developed?
Thanks...
SKY
webkami 08-11-2002, 02:51 AM Well i am not staff of gearhost
i just provided you the information posted on thier site under link

you can ask them right away filling form available there
and if no response then you would be sure about there poor Support.
Besides my current host which provide AIM/MSN/ICQ support is a LINUX host.

Never, never go with readyhosting.
I had about 20 websites with them. They were once down for 2 weeks and also all of the MSSQL server datas went to hell.
Mac
Sky7777 08-11-2002, 11:06 PM Tried to contact the Sales and tech support by 1800, forced to leave message but no response until now! Sigh......!!! What if I host my site with them and have urgent technical problem??? Have to wait and wait....!
Any opinions? Any experience? Any more Windows2000 hostings you can recommend! Looking for good tech support, researched for quite sometime, didn't find many though! :(
Thanks,
SKY
RyanK 08-12-2002, 01:32 AM Sky ... I'm sorry you haven't reached our departments. I checked with the Sales entries and none have been made by you via by phone, voice mail or email but you might of been using a different email address. Sales requests are usually handled on the weekend but it's not demanded (those guys gotta get some rest ;)) but Support is always available. If you have a question please post, I'm sure other GearHost customers on this board can show very positive experiences with our support during the week and weekends. Please let me know if you have a specific question though, I can help.
webkami 08-12-2002, 02:17 AM Well i think Sky just wanted to check your Support Response (Which as he says was not so good).
and he doesnt actualy have any questions about your service.
Best of luck with your services.
Sky7777 08-12-2002, 09:06 AM Ryank,
I am pretty sure I had to leave messages in the voicemail either for your sales dept (press 2) or tech support (press 1) when I called 1888-535-5443 the past 2 days! Yes, just wanted to see your response time, didn't want to get myself into WAITING AND WAITING for support help after I signup with GearHost!
In fact, I just called again before finishing this posting, and always get the standard female message "currently assiting someone, .....sales rep occupied with other customers with someone else, please leave your sales request......", same thing goes to the tech support! In fact, I emailed the sales team, no response either. I didn't make these up to make GearHost looks bad, but I just wanted to see what kind of quality of support I will get from you if I sign up! And I guess no one likes WAITING...!
Thanks,
SKY
