has anyone had any problems with installing webalizer 2.03 over 1.30 on a RaQ4r? with 1.30 i had to edit the script at '/etc/cron.daily/webalizer.pl' to get FrontPage to work properly. will i have to do this again? are there any other know problems?

Without answering much of your question, I'd uninstall the old version rather than install the new version 'over' it.

ARGH! I just installed the Webalizer 2.03 pkg and the server is down after rebooting! I telneted in and here is the error I am getting:
Setting up Web Service: Syntax error on line 58 of /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf:
Cannot load /etc/httpd/modules/libphp4.so into server: /usr/lib/libgd.so.1: unde
fined symbol: png_set_dither
/usr/sbin/httpd
Has anyone got an idea of what I need to fix? Help would be greatly appreciated as I am completely down at the moment. Thanks!

Ok as an update I commented out the offending line in the httpd.conf file (Line 58) and the server now boots. Of course by commenting out line 58 I have temporarily killed PHP if I understand things correctly. So does anyone have any ideas on what I need to do to get everything cohabitating? Thanks

sorry i can't help you with your problem it is to deep for me.
i am still trying to uninstall the Webalizer 1.30 ".pkg". there is no uninstall script under "/var/lib/cobalt/uninstallers" for webalizer. i tried doing a "rpm -e" but i can't seem to find the right program name to perform this remove command on. does anyone know what to tpye after the "rpm -e" command to uninstall the Webalizer 1.30 .pkg?

Sorry Netastic I dunno either. Another guy on another board (4webspace.com) installed 2.03 over the earlier version but he then had the same error I currently have so I DO NOT suggest simply installing 2.03 over the older version until this is sorted out unless you don't mind not being able to see any of your sites! As a further update here is the error in my server logs:
Syntax error on line 58 of /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf:
Cannot load /etc/httpd/modules/libphp4.so into server: /usr/lib/libgd.so.1: undefined symbol: png_set_dither
/tmp/upgrade_dir/RPMS/gd-1.8.1-4mdk.i586.rpm:
MD5 sum OK: c2bd2a88e953b5ddb17794fcf46187ce
exec failed!
Could not run gpg. Use --nogpg to skip GPG checks.

It appears there is some sort of problem with the configuration/installation of the gd graphics library. Does anyone know if this is installed on the RAQ4?

i sent an email to brad@mrunix.net. he is the only contact on the Webalizer web site that i could find. here is a copy of it:
"i have a Cobalt RaQ4r and i installed the Webalizer '.pkg' package from the cobalt download site for version 1.30.04-1. i would like to upgrade to the 2.x version out right now. i want to uninstall the current version first.
i went to "/var/lib/cobalt/uninstallers" but there was no uninstaller file for Webalizer there. i then looked into doing a "rpm -e" but couldn't find the right program name to do this remove command on.
are there any instructions that you can send me on how to remove this?"
his response was "rm webalizer" "the webalizer is just a single binary executable.. there is no need
to 'uninstall' it. If you want to upgrade, just copy the new binary over
the old one (and read the upgrade notes in README.FIRST).
PS: you need to do the 'rm' in whatever directory the binary lives..
otherwise you may need to specify a path as well ;)"

You have to delete the previous version of webalizer first or you will have BIG problems (I experienced it). Afther uninstalling it, install the new version throw the admin. So use the pkg file and not a rpm!
If you the experience problems with php. Just install it again (this is just 5 minutes)

Type in locate webalizer at the telnet prompt
According to my Raq3, its here:
/etc/cron.daily/webalizer.pl
Good luck :)

Paul,
Did you ever get the upgrade finished? How did you finally deinstall version 1.3? That is where I am stuck.
Thanks,
