I am an extremely pleased customer of Pair Networks (now in the 4th year running) and have a high-spec dedicated box running with them. Unfortunately, Pair doesn't offer windows based hosting, which is a must for a new upcoming website of ours.

1. Which windows-based hoster can provide Pairs level of reliability and service? Premium pricing is not a problem at all, reliability is of paramount importance.

2. I would like to start with a shared package. Requirements are Windows 2003 Server and a starting level of RAM and storage.

3. Is there any shared hosting provider, who would give us "Remote desktop ability"?

If you are willing to pay premium costs, you might as well get you your own private server. Most shared hosting providers will not give you remote desktop access. That will be to big of a security risk. There are many data centers that can rent out dedicated servers starting at $149 a month.

No shared host is going to give you Remote desktop...at least no shared host that knows what they're doing. If price isn't an issue, go with a dedicated server. What specs are you looking for?

If you are looking for a dedicated windows host, I would highly recommend Maximumasp. Their service and reliability for dedicated servers is very very good. I use them when I require a dedicated server for any of my clients.

Maybe you should tell us why you want "Remote Desktop Ability"? I dont think you should get a dedicated server if a shared plan would work for you. Setting up your own dedicated server, maintaining it, can be time consuming and expensive. Is there specific functions you know how to do in remote desktop? Tell us why you want remote desktop ability and we can give you more helpful advice.

To add my $0.02, the earlier posts are right - shared means FTP or control panel access ONLY, whereas VPS/Dedicated should allow you remote desktop access. Any host that allows Remote Desktop on shared doesn't know what they're doing as there is no good way to make that secure and stable.

Stay away from Shared if you want quality hosting. Best bet is to go with a managed VPS plan which allows you to combine other hosted services.
