Hello all,

A very good advice, never use PLIMUS.COM!
I speak from experience!

First this company asked my 21% EU VAT; very eccentric that an USA payment processor ask for VAT into the EU.

Thereafter when my payment was done by credit card, I received at least 7 e-mails from this maniacs asking a phone number to confirm my order by phone. At last, my payment was cancelled since I refused make phone conversation in the middle of the night.

So, I you want do business and you are devoted to your customers DO NOT USE PLIMUS.COM!

;)

I don't think they are bad guys if they ask phone number. Some companies (2CO etc) even don't procces credit cards without this info. They usually make phone calls for suspicios transactions. It's common practice.

They can only charge VAT if they have a VAT number, although they have a US office it maybe just sales, all finance operations may be in the EU.

I don't know the facts on this one but it would make more sense.

I think you got it all wrong . Plimus is an eCommerce provider, and as all of them - they fear of fraud. They have all right to ask for your phone number if your order is suspecious, and from the style of your email I can certainly understand why they wanted to talk with you.
From my experience with them, they never call in the middle of the night, they'd wait till morning. I have no idea why you assumed they'd call you in the middle of the night.

I'm glad they were smart enough to decline your order, as you certainly did no effort to prove it's a legit one.

I too had a bad experince with Plimus. I purchased a software and gave them my phone number. They called me back and I gave them all the information they wanted. For some reason, they didn't beleive its me who owns the card and they declined my order. I then paid again thru my PayPal account which I had for 7years. 30 minutes later, my PayPal payment was refunded with no explanation whatsoever. Needless to say, the merchant lost a sale and I bought the same software somewhere else.

I know billing companies need to protect themself, but this is one hell of a dumb company and anyone who does business with them has to be a dumbass too. BTW, the software was only $75
