View Full Version : phpBB.com is down
dektong 03-05-2001, 04:21 PM Just the day when I am ready and have the time to download the free software from them, the site is down :( ... Do they have a mirror site? I would really love to try their new phpBB 2.0 ....
cheers,
klisis 03-05-2001, 05:16 PM That's what I call "Bad luck".
Well, pbpbb.com is down for me also.
KDAWebServices 03-05-2001, 06:44 PM I do believe it is hosted by IntraHost, so I'd ask them if they know what's going on.
RotoHost 03-05-2001, 07:10 PM If phpBB.com is on the Alabanza network (I think they are), there are some problems with connectivity today. They'll be up shortly. I'm sure you'll like phpBB. :)
Good Luck!
UNIXIELHOST 03-05-2001, 08:18 PM phpBB.com is not with Alabanza, they are at VDI based aka IntraHost
Thanks!
dektong 03-06-2001, 01:03 AM more than 12 hours and they are still down :( Gee... I wish I downloaded over the weekend and install it today! :(
cheers,

acetate 03-06-2001, 02:36 AM Oh sorry.. not familiar with phpbb. thot u ment 1._2_.0_ haha..
Marty 03-06-2001, 10:23 AM There is no version 2 yet. The latest is 1.2.1. 1.2.0 was released about a month ago an had a few bugs in it, so 1.2.1 was a bug fix release. So don't wait for version 2.0 that won't be available for several months.
Chicken 03-06-2001, 09:50 PM Can someone email me 1.2.1 if they have it?
dektong 03-06-2001, 09:53 PM me too please?
Yea I guess I was wrong when I thought there was version 2.0 already :(
cheers,
klisis 03-06-2001, 10:07 PM phpbb.com is still down for me.
dektong 03-07-2001, 02:14 AM Gee... I guess the site has been down for more than 30 hours at least! What's going on?
cheers,
RotoHost 03-07-2001, 10:04 AM Still down...9 am ET
Hmmmmm. I want my phpBB! :)
NetRemedy 03-07-2001, 10:10 AM Try again as we can access and if you go to the downloads page, they state:
"We are proud to announce that v1.2.0 has been released!"
Are you sure that they are down? I just checked them out and things were running fine. I'll be glad when they put their "users guide" on the web.
NetRemedy 03-07-2001, 11:20 AM Cruise (phpBB Bug Hunter) at phpBB support forum says
You will be able to Upgrade to 1.2.1 in a few days (Bugfix)
:D
dektong 03-07-2001, 05:10 PM phpBB.com is still down :( How can some people are able to connect to the site? It has been down since gee... 50 hours ago?
Aha... I tried to traceroute it (visualroute.datametrics.com) and it seems the site is working fine (can connect to the web server). The IP address it points to is 216.74.122.162 (VDI NOC)... So I conect to the site using this IP, and ... walah.. it works fine...
Shoot.. I should have tried to connect using IP... so what went wrong?
cheers,
Are we talking about the same PhPBB? I just checked again and it works fine. http://www.phpbb.com
dektong 03-07-2001, 06:27 PM yes... we are talking about the same phpbb, http://www.phpbb.com. What makes me wonder is that most of us can't even load that page... but it works well with you... you are sure you are not loading offline page, aren't you? :D
phpbb.com is still down for me... but http://216.74.122.162/ works fine....
cheers,
klisis 03-07-2001, 06:28 PM phpbb.com is up for me now :)
clean load, cleared my cache and everything. Loads real quick. Checked on it several times today.
Just download the 1.2.0 version from the website without glitch.
If you can use the ip but not the hostname, could it because of the dns problem??
acetate 03-08-2001, 02:13 AM I was able to load it since last nite.. Loads just fine!

Ha... it now works for me too! Gee.... after 80 hours or so? :D If they have DNS problem, than all of us should have the same problem... So is it my ISP then? But why? they used to work fine for me...
Well, it works now... nuff said :D
cheers,
IntraHost 03-19-2001, 11:29 PM There was some miscommunication between the phpBB.com owner (theFinn) and myself. phpbb.com uses 3rd party DNS and we changed IP address's of our customers. phpbb.com was not updated and the old server was pulled, hence the disappearing act.
But don't worry, everything is ok now (haha, it has been 12 days). We've taken some measures so this won't happen again. Also, if it does happen, theFinn setup area51.phpbb.com to keep people in the loop as to whats going on.
