Hello,

I just bought a UPS for my home computer from ebay,

It’s a APC 650, my question is, If I were to drain the battier, how long would it take to gain a full charge again?

I've always heard APC are very good. I've been looking at getting one myself recently.

I have 4 Belkins, both 425 and 650 VA, they've always worked flawlessly :D

I use to have a UPS, batteries went bad after a couple years. Was nice though, I still had power while I went to turn on the generator. Hehehe, I had something like 380 days uptime on one machine, and 259 on the other.

I've got an APC Backups ES350.

Fantastic UPS. Only a small capacity but it has nice features and powers the following for about 13-14 mins:
- Linux gateway/fileserver (no monitor)
- Key Telephone System (NEC Electra/Ranger)
- Desk Lamp (so I can see if the power goes off)
- Ericsson DECT Cordless phone base station
- Clock radio
- Sony Discman (does music on hold for telephone system).

I forget the exact price - it was about AU$200 from memory from Harris Technologies (http://www.ht.com.au).

Has a nice USB connection so it connects to the computer. I can see the status, runtime, battery charge, etc. It also pops up a message on the screen when there is a change of power source (battery/AC).

My uptime (18:48 up 27 days, 17:29:41) says how long I've had the UPS for :) - I was up to ~112 days when the power went out so I bought a UPS the next day.

As for ordering UPSs off the Internet; just remember that they can be quite heavy and the shipping price might outweigh the cost of going to pick it up :)

I can't remember what I paid.

But, you can search http://www.pricewatch.com/ and see how cheap you can get an APC UPS for.

I got my personal UPS for 20% off no shipping at Dell peripherals. Always check for their weekly sales.

Anyone know how to turn off those annoying beeps from the UPS when the power goes out? I have a Back-UPS 350 and it's very annoying when I get waken up by beeps in the middle of the night.
