I am planning:
Core Duo 6600
3GB RAM
500GB (after RAID1, Raw ~1TB)
Bandwith: ~1GB
My clients will mostly host CMSes with 1000-5000 uniqueIPs/day
so how many sites should I allow on one server?
Thank you

Sorry I mean connection... bandwith
hmm hard to say, some people will host heavy-duty websites and others will host websites that don't generate any visits at all. The server sounds alright for atleast 300 websites.

It depends entirely on your business model and plan, it also depends on what you plan to offer and who to. Good luck!
1000-5000 uniques is pretty heavy. depends on many factors as others say however, id say 100-300 sites.

Remember to think about what resources you're letting clients use though too - such as MySQL databases? Content management systems can sometimes be very resource heavy :p

Exactly. Its not just about Disk Space and Bandwidth. MySQL databases and other resources can slow servers down. I would get a few accounts on to the server and see the average usage of each client. Then base the results off that to decide how many people should be able to fit on that server.
