For some reason when I try and upload files to
/home/sites/home/web with the admin user, I get a
"permission denied" error. Telnet still works fine.

Can someone point me to the FTP settings for the admin user
so I know why it is doing this?

Are there more than 35 sites on your server? This is normal is that's the case.

Yes, I'm at about 40 sites now. This is very annoying, have you found a way around it? I can't upload anything.

No way around it. I spend a month trying to get around it as well. The best solution is to create a user for each site you need access to and use that to login.
