Any one have experience with this? I'm going to colo a 1u and also pay for WHMCS month-to-month.

Have you contacted your DC about this? They usually get good discounts because they buy in bulk.

Yes, I contacted - they don't offer it. They are not a very large DC.

Buycpanel.com is usually the cheapest and fastest activated, you can't get external licensing at a very good price with CPanel.

Separate licensing is generally quite expensive. Perhaps consider buying a dedicated server with cpanel/whm preinstalled? might be a more cost effective solution.

For external licences IME you cant beat NDCHost - quick, cost-effective, good support *if* you ever need it (not a lot can go wrong, but it's nice to know they answer tickets in a timely fashion)

I'm actually trying to balance the age old problem of perfromance, reliability, and of course profit. I work for a small ISP now and we have 2 cPanel servers with one time licenses directly from cPanel. Support is SUPERB when we have issues. So i may entertain the idea of purchasing the 1 year directly from them, when you break it down, it's cheaper than a reseller.

Long story short, I need to service personal clients on the side for the extra cash, so hosting at my job is out of the question. If I knew a dedicated WHM server from a reseller was reliable and it performed well - I would consider it. I do have a VPS/WHM setup now from Spry and it's very slow; granted it's the base package.

You should search Google and this forum for HostGator, they have many reviews and should provide you with the information you are looking for. Keep in mind they have a 45 day money back guarantee so if you aren't happy with it you can get a refund. HostGator is a great company and I have only had positive experiences working with them.

I did search around after I posted fore reviews and experiences. They do have a lot of good "customer" feedback but found very little techincal reviews. As far as performance of reselling accounts etc.

Any provider worth its salt will be able to run Wordpress in a shared/reseller hosting environment, as long as it's not a very busy blog that threatens the server's performance as a whole.

Yea, I should have known better; but never figured a VPS that will run a full WHM back end would lack that much on performance.
