View Full Version : Recommend WHM license reseller
scdata 01-04-2008, 01:21 PM Can anyone recommend a WHM license reseller? Quick google results in top 3 reselling at $49 a month.
Any one have experience with this? I'm going to colo a 1u and also pay for WHMCS month-to-month.
IH-Rameen 01-04-2008, 01:32 PM Have you contacted your DC about this? They usually get good discounts because they buy in bulk.
scdata 01-04-2008, 01:34 PM Yes, I contacted - they don't offer it. They are not a very large DC.
devonblzx 01-04-2008, 01:57 PM Buycpanel.com is usually the cheapest and fastest activated, you can't get external licensing at a very good price with CPanel.
Adam H 01-04-2008, 02:15 PM buycpanel.com or touchsupport.com are good.
RobertMaltby 01-04-2008, 11:34 PM I thought I had seen BuyACPanel.com offer cPanel/WHM + Fantastico for $43.00/month -- Might be wrong, but I seen an Ad here on WHT..
scdata 01-04-2008, 11:37 PM Thanks for the feedback - much appreciated.
musawirali 01-05-2008, 04:22 AM Separate licensing is generally quite expensive. Perhaps consider buying a dedicated server with cpanel/whm preinstalled? might be a more cost effective solution.
othellotech 01-05-2008, 06:49 AM For external licences IME you cant beat NDCHost - quick, cost-effective, good support *if* you ever need it (not a lot can go wrong, but it's nice to know they answer tickets in a timely fashion)

I'm actually trying to balance the age old problem of perfromance, reliability, and of course profit. I work for a small ISP now and we have 2 cPanel servers with one time licenses directly from cPanel. Support is SUPERB when we have issues. So i may entertain the idea of purchasing the 1 year directly from them, when you break it down, it's cheaper than a reseller.
Long story short, I need to service personal clients on the side for the extra cash, so hosting at my job is out of the question. If I knew a dedicated WHM server from a reseller was reliable and it performed well - I would consider it. I do have a VPS/WHM setup now from Spry and it's very slow; granted it's the base package.
scdata 01-08-2008, 07:14 PM If I could ask in this same thread - how good is the performance of a Hostgator reseller account?
As mentioned earlier, I have a VPS/WHM account from Spry and it can barely run a Wordpress install, let a lone push any traffic to it?
Any feedback from anyone with Hostgator experience on this matter is greatly appreciated.
iHubNet 01-09-2008, 08:25 AM We use license through touchsupport.com.. never had problem and it's bundled with fantastico..
I remember that there were some kind of promotion/discount in offer section.. I am not sure it's still going on..
InfiniteTech 01-09-2008, 09:44 AM We used to get them from TouchSupport. Then heard that PSM provides it for a much less price if you buy them in bulk ($5~ off every license). So jumped straight to PSM.
Off-topic: PSM's server management is also great, just to mention.

You should search Google and this forum for HostGator, they have many reviews and should provide you with the information you are looking for. Keep in mind they have a 45 day money back guarantee so if you aren't happy with it you can get a refund. HostGator is a great company and I have only had positive experiences working with them.
scdata 01-09-2008, 02:02 PM I did search around after I posted fore reviews and experiences. They do have a lot of good "customer" feedback but found very little techincal reviews. As far as performance of reselling accounts etc.
Though you are right, 45 day trial may be in order.

URL to PSM?
ldcdc 01-09-2008, 07:47 PM I have a VPS/WHM account from Spry and it can barely run a Wordpress install, let a lone push any traffic to it?That may indeed be a "feature" of a very small VPS. Any provider worth its salt will be able to run Wordpress in a shared/reseller hosting environment, as long as it's not a very busy blog that threatens the server's performance as a whole.
scdata 01-09-2008, 08:21 PM Yea, I should have known better; but never figured a VPS that will run a full WHM back end would lack that much on performance.
level3hosting 01-09-2008, 08:27 PM I use http://www.reliablehosting.com/cpanel.htm
I have used them for about 4 months. Great support even though I just have a cpanel license through them.
