View Full Version : which domain is better ? chinatravel.com or china-travel.com
chinamv 01-04-2008, 10:33 AM Hi Guys,
Do you think which is better domain between chinatravel and china-travel. Plz give me some advices.
Thanks
chinatravel.com is better but it is registered already :-)
tweakservers 01-04-2008, 11:07 AM Ya..chinatravel is better as it is much more easier to type ;)
boonchuan 01-04-2008, 11:11 AM Those with a "-" normally commands much lesser money than the full word. But such nice domains like chinatravel etc are all long gone.......
Do you know how annoying it is to tell someone a domain name with a hyphen in it? And especially with something as popular as travel, its best to register it without the hyphen.
Oh, by the way, the domain is not available :P
chinatravel.com is better and easy to type :)
Slitheryimp 01-04-2008, 03:42 PM I would register both, and 301 china-travel.com to the other.
Although you should carefully examine the wording before deciding, a couple of old classics...
pen-island.com
experts-exchange.com
chinatravel.com regged 1995
china-travel.com regged 1997
The early bird catches the worm.
Right Hosting 01-04-2008, 09:02 PM I would register both, and 301 china-travel.com to the other.
Yes registering both would be the best idea and 301 one to another. As mentioned, if you have to tell someone the domain is
china-travel.com then you have to say " china Hyphen travel dot com"
chinamv 01-05-2008, 02:33 AM thanks for you advices, friends! i agree that chinatravel is more easy to remember
i have heard that chinatravel will be seen as "one word" in search enginee, and china-travel will be considering as china and travel = two words, maybe there is some different effect on SEO.
TrafficLicious 01-05-2008, 02:48 AM Register both ... There's an effect on SEO if you have long words (so dashes would do well in that case).
gzola 01-05-2008, 06:34 AM I would register both, and 301 china-travel.com to the other.
That's my choice too.
snapshot 01-05-2008, 06:37 AM Hi, if possible, it is always recommended to have domain names with just letters, no numbers of symbols but nowadays it might seem to be a difficult task to find unregistered domain names sometimes.

I don't find that with any of my websites....
The non-dashed version is always a better choice.
Shrill 01-05-2008, 07:07 PM I'm gonna have to agree with the others... non-hyphen domains are almost always better, and if you own a domain with a hyphen and don't have the non-hyphen version then that's just asking for trouble ;)
Brian-de-vie 01-05-2008, 07:40 PM Spare no expense, use/buy both.
cycomholdings 01-06-2008, 08:59 AM If you can get the one word one I don't see the point of registering the hyphen one. Maybe the dot net (and dot com.cn, .cn since you are in China), but definitely not china-travel
