View Full Version : reseller cpanels and subdomain setup

Hi, I hope you informed folks can tell me if what I am thinking of is feasible with a standard reseller account :) ... if there is even a "standard"

I would like to set up one domain (eg blah.com) and all the resold customer accounts are subdomains (and stay resolved as subdomains eg customer1.blah.com, customer2.blah.com) and yet each customer have their own cpanel (hence the reseller, whm?)

AND besides the subdomains, can each customer have their own domain if they choose to register their own? (But if a visitor got to the site via the subdomain it should stay as the subdomain, and if they got there thru the customer's domain it should stay as that.)

How would I go abouts doing this? What sort of hosting should I be looking at?

Each customer could need about 3GB space each and 10GB per month traffic each. Starting with maybe 10 customers and I don't want to oversell. Any reliable US host recommendations?

Oh, another possibly silly question... what happens if/when I get more customers than the reseller account allows for? Do I have to open another reseller account?? I want the new ones to still be under the same reseller account... one whm, etc.

Thanks in advance :)

A WHM reseller account will suffice. When it comes to setting up an account, just type the subdomain rather than a domain. If the user registers a domain wants to use that domain, then enter in WHM.

Each subdomain will get its own cPanel as will each domain created. Nothing special needs to be done. :)

Just one point to add, blah.com must resolve to the server you're using.

When you need more resources, you can upgrade the reseller package.

It's not necessary to be another reseller account.

Thanks :) glad to know it's not as difficult as I was imagining.
